Date: 2007-09-28 08:13 pm (UTC)Girls:
Olydia (oh-lydia): I'm not a fan, because it seems like a mashed version of Olivia + Lydia to me
Natalia: pretty (I read a book with a strong character named that, I guess that's why I like it)
Harper: like!
Avadelle: Nah...it somehow reminds me of Italian pasta, papadelle or whatever it's called.
Adela: It sounds old to me
Avalone: I don't like it
Monet: It's kinda cute, but it reminds me way too much of the painter. Which makes it a little strange as a girl's name, IMO.
Boys:
Avrum: Not a fan
Kingsley: Cute
Gideon: Nah
Caleb: Alright
Tristan: Not my style
But it doesn't really matter whether they're tasteful or not, if you like them, go for it ;)

Date: 2007-09-28 08:18 pm (UTC)Natalia: I love it! Though, I am not a fan of the nick-name "Nat."
Harper: Firstly, it's a surname. Secondly, it sounds very masculine. Blech.
Avadelle: It vaguely reminds me of a sort of medicine. I'm not sure what.
Adela: It's not bad, but I prefer Adella.
Avalone: Bad, bad, bad.
Monet: Another surname, another one that shouldn't be used for a first name. Not to mention it doesn't even sound especially feminine.
Avrum: Err...what?
Kingsley: Fairly decent. It reminds me of Kingsley Shacklebolt, of Harry Potter fame.
Gideon: I'm neutral with Gideon. I don't hate it, but it's not a favorite, either.
Caleb: It's nice, but extremely popular.
Tristan: A nice name, but it reminds me of Tristan und Isolde, which is just so damnedly depressing.

Date: 2007-09-29 12:37 am (UTC)Natalia sounds too exotic for me; my kids will be a little more 'American Pie' than that (if I marry my blond/blue boyfriend!) BUT... if I was by any means dark and sexy, I might name my daughter that! :P
Kingsley. Too. Gwen. Stefani.

Date: 2007-09-29 06:05 pm (UTC)wow...I've never met anyone who openly admitted to being/liking "american pie"-isms. Most culprits deny it left and right, haha. Me? I hate anything homey, and all american (sorry). props, I guess.
