I made a post a few weeks back about the nickname "Kit" and how the father isn't too thrilled about any name that Kit could stand for, but he's crazy about the name Kit. Now, what does everyone think about just naming her Kit by itself?

Its cute! I would add a generic middle name, so that she can fall back on it if she doesnt want to use Kit professionally when she gets older.

i second that! well, not neccessarily the generic part. but DEFINITELY a more "grown-up" middle name in case Kit doesn't exactly fit her one day 40 year old personality.

It's cute to me but I would probally ask what "Kit" was shortened for. :)

That is actually a really cute name. Me and a special someone were volley'ing "Alexis Brooke" as first and middle.

I think it's too short personally, i like Kitty, then shorten it to Kit.... maybe thats a bit girly for you though.

i love the name, but give her a more adult middle name so if she needs a more professional name later in life she can use that

I think it's a cute nickname. But as a full first name? Maybe it seems sweet for a kid, but I can see her hating it as a teenager and adult... I mean, it's not very feminine or sophisticated or elegant or strong, you know?

I think the fact that so many people suggested a "fall back" middle name shows that this is one she'll probably want to change.

And honestly - well, it sort of makes me think of a first-aid kit :( But that's just me...

Best of luck with it, and really, you should do what feels right for you, rather than listening to random strangers on the internet :) He hehe...

I think Kit is such a cute name! I think if you and your partner love it, then go for it.

I think it would be better for her to have a more formal name, just for when she gets older and wants a more formal and mature name. However, I think it's an adorable name. I see no reason why you can't always refer to her as Kit and just use the formal name for major documents. My younger sister's name is Danielle, and she is ALWAYS referred to as Dani, but my parents gave her Danielle so she'd have the option when she got older.

The one person I do know named Kit actually uses it as a nickname for Katie. Not sure if that was suggested yet...

I think it's cute. For either gender, actually, but especially for a girl.

Maybe use it as a middle name and settle on another first name, but, of course, call her Kit?

Have you considered:
Katy/Katie
Kathleen
Kaitlyn
Katrina
Katrin
Katarina
Kristina
Kristian
Kristin

But if you like it, in the end, that's all that matters. I have a friend named Connie, and she gets asked all the time if it's short for Constance. She says, "Nope, it's just Connie." and that's the end of it. She likes her name.

I myself wouldn't suggest it, I think using it as a full name is a good idea. That way, as she gets older she'll grow more into her full name. I can't really see a thirty year old woman with the name "Kit". Kit is a very cute nickname though.
