If it only were Dymphna, you'd have one hell of a name there :D It's funny you say that. It was *supposed* to have been Dymphna, but my da misspelled it when the nurse asked him. (He was raised Lutheran; he didn't know any better.) My mam was a little angry, but she pronounces it the same and knows what it's supposed to mean.
I'm surprised by how many people like Amaranth. I suppose it's because they didn't have to struggle with spelling it in kindergarten. Most people call me Amy; the 'rents call me "Ama," though, and sometimes my grandparents call me Aimee.
