*sigh* I have caved in to peer pressure and bandwagon jumping. I know there is at least one name on this list that most will not like...however, I like it.




Feel free to comment here as well, I'm interested in feedback.

My aunt and uncle recently adopted a 2-year-old girl, who they've had since she was 7 months old. The name given to her at birth was Lily Renee (her middle name after her birth mother). Now that she's been adopted, her name is Lilian Faith. What do you think?

1) I think the name is pretty.

2) The reason for the middle name Faith, is because it took a lot of faith in God for her to become my new cousin. I like the fact that they will be able to tell her that as she gets older...there's actually a story behind the name, and not just something that was picked randomly.

Unless I really lovedthe birth name i'd have changde it altogether.
I don't like Faith.. I have none so it's a bit wishy washy to me. I do like Hope though, same vein.

Well, she's two years old, so trying to change her name entirely would probably have been confusing for her. I think they liked Lily well enough, they just prefered Lilian.

The whole Faith thing is personal preference, I guess. My family does have faith, so it's fitting. I like Faith as a middle name, personally, but not as a first name.

I like almost all of your boy names except Connor Lee, Austin Bradley, and the name Hunter. I love Andrew, and Bradley wouldn't be bad, either; maybe Bradley Andrew, or Andrew Bradley? Connor, Hunter, and Austin are just SO trendy, and Lee with Connor just makes it seem like Trend followed by Filler. I also like Joshua Logan better. I think it flows nicer than Logan Joshua.

The only girl names I really liked were Rachel Grace, Michaela Elaine, and Samantha Alexis. Colleen wasn't bad, but I don't really like the way Marie sounds with it. Maybe Colleen Ruth? Most of the names are ones that aren't horrible, but not my style, but...Daytona Ruth. Just...no. What will it take you convince you to cross that one off the list, because I will SO do it. I dislike place names to begin with, but Daytona is just... all I can think of is the Daytona 500 and I think that might be only slightly better than the little girl whose mom gave her 50 names after the boxers. I really like Ruth, though!

I'm hoping that by the time I have kids, Hunter won't be quite so trendy. I genuinely like the name. Many of the names were just ones I like, but I'm not sure I'd ever use. Like Connor. My mom's cousin has a son named Conner, so while I like it...I doubt I'd use it. The Lee isn't actually filler, it's my dad's middle name, so I'd be naming a baby after him. Same goes for Austin...my cousin has a kid with that name, but unfortunately I like the name as well.


Most people don't like Daytona. It started out as kind of a joke between a friend and I, then it grew on me...and I've actually heard it on a couple of little girls. I keep trying to tell my mom, at least I don't like the name Talladega or something like that... Colleen Marie...the Colleen is after a family friend who passed away, and Marie is my mom's middle name. So, again, it's the whole naming a baby after family thing.

Well....considering the reason my aunt and uncle have her is because she was so neglected that at 7 months old she only weighed 17 lbs....I don't find it all that sad. Maybe I should have included that part in the orginal post...?

I really probably should have included this in my original post. The reason they didn't want her birth mother's name anymore was because they didn't feel the woman had any right for Lily to be named after her. My aunt and uncle originaly got her as a foster child. At the age of 7 months, she had been so neglected that she only weighed 17 lbs (I think it was 17 lbs...at any rate, she was incredibly tiny and weak). They didn't want her named after the woman who did that to her. I think I can kind of a agree.

Haha. The funny thing is...I just kind of threw it together. I love the name Jesse, but couldn't think of a good middle name to go with it. So I was running through names in my head and Ryan popped out at me and seemed to sound good.

i think i would have named her Lilian Renee Faith, unless the mother was abusive or neglectful or something.
only one of my cousins adopted children came with a name, and they made it her middle name, chantelle, no one likes the name by any means, but its a link to her biological parents, shows respect for them birthing her.

however, Lilian is a very pretty name.

The mother was neglectful. When my aunt and uncle got her, she was 7 months and weight something like 17 lbs. I think that was it...maybe it was less. At any rate, she was severely malnourished. Which is why they didn't want her to have a name that was in any way linked to her birth mother.

If you want honest feedback, "Daytona" sounds really trashy and redneck to me. It's an awful name for a little girl Sorry. You did ask what we thought.

I do however like your other name choices. Even the unusual one -- Jonali or something? -- sounded more "pretty" than "OMG I need to be creative."

I actually went to school with a girl named Jonali, her name was a contraction of her grandfather's names. She didn't like it, but I thought it was gorgeous.
