I know a family of ten kids. The oldest is about 30 and the youngest is 11. They all have very interesting names. The three most interesting are:
Rhea Joyce
Jubal Li
Amanda Lynn

These are interesting because obviously when you say them out loud they sound like "rejoice," "jubilee," and "A Mandolin". What do you think of these names? Do you like the concept of making words out of first and middle names or do you find it ridiculous?
I think Rhea Joyce is a beautiful name, although I think Rhea sounds incomplete, like it's short for something.
Jubal is a good friend of mine. He is very wacky and the name suits him perfectly, I think the name would seem stupid on anyone but him. He endured much teasing as a child because of his name but his attitude on that is "Meh, it builds character."
Amanda goes by Mandy. I'm not a big fan of the name myself. She got a much less interesting name than the rest of her siblings. I do like the musical reference though.

Havilah Louise
Petra Mercedes
Silas
Caleb
Judah
Samara
Jamin

Jubal makes me think of the villain from the Firefly episode "Objects in Space." Of course, Firefly also has mandolins....

In general, I think cutesy names are not very cool to subject a kid to. I dated a guy named Sean* William Dye. (*first name changed to protect his privacy) In middle school, he got hell because the kids figured out that when you shortened his middle name, it was Sean Will Dye. And his parents didn't even intend that.

I don't think the names Petra and Mercedes go well together. At all.
And Jubal Li is so strange! I'm usually a fan of not-so-common names, but this...no.
I've been starting to like Amanda lately. Not really...but kinda. Maybe because all of a sudden I've heard of and seen so many nice people called Amanda =P

I usually like the concept of making words or so out of the first and middle name. And I think I'm the only one ;)

Do you have any examples to share of other words you can create out of a first and a middle name? Not looking to use them, I'm just curious now!

:)

It's nothing special really...Scarlett Rose, April Luz (luz = light in Spanish)...stuff like that =)
Maybe it's the hippie in me, I don't know ;)

** Maybe I should add that 'my' names are more like little sentences (well...sentences...you know what I mean ;)) instead of two names that sound like words when you pronounce them.
I like that too, though. Except for Jubilee =P

I had a childhood friend named Crystal Shanda Lear.

I still think it's kinda awesome.
