Sep. 12th, 2007 11:18 pmI sort of promised my Dad several years ago that if I ever have a son that I would name the boy after him. He didn't want me to use his first name, Harvey, but to use his middle name, Richard, instead. I'm not currently pregnant but I'd sort of like this one set so I can think up more names.
I don't want to use it as a first name because I don't really care for it that much, well that and one of its nicknames is Dick. I'd much rather use it as a middle name but I'm having a hard time finding names it flows with that I like.
My favourite boys names are Armand, Deacon, Sebastien, Nicholas, Dimitri, Liam, Rocco, Victor and Vincent.
The other day I thought of Deacon Richard Alexander [lastname], but that is a super long name. Alexander is a family name (from my Grandfather on my mother's side) and so is Armand (from French ancestors named d'Armand).
What do you guys think? I'm open to any sort of suggestion, even names that I didn't list.

I actually like Richard as a first name. Dick is not a very common nickname any more. My grandfather was a Dick but I have known dozens of Richards growing up and they were all Ricks and Rickys with the ocassional Rich or Richie. I think my favorite combonation with Richard is Richard Armand. I'm actually quite partial to Samuel Richard as well if you really are set against using Richard as a first name. Liam and Nicholas aren't that bad either.
Then, I was bored so I put together some other ideas.
You don't need to use Richard and Alexander in one name (though I like Richard Alexander and even Alexander Richard in a pinch) unless you are planning on just having one child. An Alexander or Alexandra later on would not be a problem. You don't need to pile everything on to the one kid.

Deacon Richard (lastname) sounds really good to me, and then you can save Alexander/Alexandra for a future sibling.

I really LOVE these names you suggested
Nicholas Richard
Gabriel Richard
Liam Richard
Julius Richard
Geoffrey Richard
Nikolai Richard
Deacon Richard
Vincent Alexander
Liam Alexander
Nikolai Alexander

Date: 2007-09-15 06:46 pm (UTC)I really do like the name Richard though I wouldn't use it as a first name, either. It's my grandfather's name and I haven't tried it with any of the names I like, yet, but I'm sure I will probably use it. Though, I'm actually becoming fairly partial to Nickolai and Liam, lol.
