(no subject)

hello!  i'm bridget, and i'm new, i'm not pregnant or TTC but i want to get a jump on names because (1), i like it and (2), nothing goes with our last name!!!
so this is what i'm thinking for a girl:
gwenyth eowyn strong

(my husband is kenneth the III, and i don't want to go with a kenneth IV, so i thought gwenyth would be good.  also i like this spelling better.  also, we met in the gaming store and we both love LOTR.)

but for a boy...nothing goes with strong.  i liked waylin, but waylin strong?  no no and no.  most of the names i liked (stewart, sebastian, etc) go with the double S thing.  i also liked oliver, but i think that sounds weird too

i still like nigel, but i think he's shot that one down.  i've been looking at filipino names, since he is half filipino, but they don't really flow with his last name, and he doesn't want to name his child a filipino name because of the rich spanish heritage has altered the names and he doesn't want our child to be mistaken for being hispanic, because that's been some problems with him in the past.

so all that being said, anyone have any ideas?  thanks!!! :)

I'd love to have a last name like Strong-but no, I ended up marrying and taking the last name "Eddy" (pronounced Eddie). I know several people with your last name and their names seem fine to me:
I actually know an Oliver Strong
Brent Strong
Nicholas Strong
Ryan Strong

I think Strong is a nice last name, and a lot will fit with it just fine, even Oliver. Gwenyth is a personal favorite..not sure about Eowyn on a child, which is saying a lot considering I'm a hardcore geek and obsessed with LOTR.

Elliot Strong!

How do you pronounce Eowyn?

I think a lot of names sound good with Strong, including the ones you said in your post.

I'm guessing just as it's pronounced in LotR: Ay-oh-win.

I saw that it was from LotR but I've never seen or read that.

Oh, last names, bane of my existence. I'm just glad I'm not a guy, because if I were there'd by no way I could name a son of mine William (common nickname being 'Bill', and no child wants to be subjected to 'Bill Bailey').

Hi, great to meet you :)

Gwenyth Eowyn Strong sounds great. I think Eowyn is beautiful, but wouldn't use it myself (just not into LOTR)

No idea about boys names.

I love Eowyn for a girl (big lotr fan too) and I also love Arwen. Gwenyth is nice but I prefer Gwyneth.

As for a boy....

Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Craig, Liam, Steven...that's all I can think of at the moment!
