[identity profile] americandiva.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I may have posted these before so sorry if I'm repeating myself. I just still need more opinions.

Ok first of all I love the name Caoimhe (pn Kee-va) but I'm afraid of the pn problems with it. People have misprounouced my name a lot and I hate it...I don't really want to do that to my daughter ya know. I'm not in an area where everyone is Irish (I'm in New York so its very mixed) so my question is...
Caoimhe or Keeva.

second of all...what do you think of these names. All are for girls.

Caoimhe/Keeva
Thea
Taylor
Justine
Eliana
Delilah
Callie

thanks

honestly, i'd go with Keeva. i know how Caoimhe is pronounced, but when i read it, i STILL mispronounce it in my head. plus, i don't think it looks nice, i don't know... some names just don't look nice to me, call me weird. lol

i especially like:
Taylor
Justine
Eliana
Callie

The Irish purist in me wants to insist on Caoimhe, but the realist in me says Keeva. Maybe Kiva/Ceeva? I hate kre8tyvve spellings, but you have some give with that one.

I love Thea and Delilah. Not a big fan of Justine or Taylor because I think of them as guy names. Eliana is pretty, but I think of Elian Gonzales. Callie is what my sister calls the state of California, and it drives me crazy.

Keeva, definitely. I love the name, but I think the pronunciation WOULD be a problem. It would be one thing if it was just a little difficult, but really, the spelling doesn't even make sense to people who don't speak Gaelic, which is a very very very very very small percentage of the population.

I really like Justine and Callie. Taylor is too unisex, but it could be worse. Delilah and Eliana are okay, but not ones I've choose. Thea is okay, again, but I'm not a big fan of it, at all. Justine and Callie are really cute, though.

I'd say Keeva, even though I cringe at kre8tif spellings; however, Keeva doesn't look as obvious to me as, say, Maysonne would.

Thea- This is cute, but I think I like Theo better
Taylor- Gah. Unisex, and incredibly 80s sounding to me.
Justine- I think of an annoying chubby girl I knew in elementary school.
Eliana- Christian Slater's daughter who... isn't... terribly adorable.
Delilah- I like this! Now, I'm not religious at all or anything, but it does seem to be infamous because of the story, so I'd re-think it perhaps.
Callie- Like it.

Keeva, I think Irish names are annoying if you're not in an Irish speaking country.

I love Taylor, Justine and Callie for girls!
I was going to use Callie or Kelly (I'm aware they don't sound exactly the same) as short for Calia :)

How are you pronouncing Justine? I'm only familiar with the french version

p.s. it just occurred to me, but Keiva might be a pretty spelling.

I'd go with Keeva as well. It's pronounced the same way and it doesn't have the disadvantages of being pronounced wrongly all the time. I like it =)
As for the rest of your names; I like Eliana and Delilah is growing on me. I don't like Callie, because I just don't like any Kelly variants, and I don't like Justine & Thea because I think they are old-fashioned. Thea in particular.
Taylor...it's ok =)

Caoimhe for sure because Kiva (pronounced Keeva) is a Hebrew guys name.

Caoimhe is the only way to spell it in my opinion. If someone said to me I had to spell it Keeva I wouldn't use the name. To me Keeva looks like you didn't know how to spell it.
