babynames | (no subject)

I'm not PG, TTC or anything (would take a miracle as I'm single). Just a total name nerd. So thought I'd post my current list and see what you think. Prounciation is in brackets where needed, and explanation of the names is included.

boys

Banyan Philip 'Bay'
Banyan for the trees, Philip is my father's name.
Finlay Jude 'Finn'
Finlay is for my Scottish heritage, Jude after Hey Jude.
Leif [lay-f] Dylan
I just love the sounds and meanings of these names (put together they mean 'beloved son of the wave')
Lennon Raphael 'Leo'
I'm a major beatles fan, and John was the coolest. Raphael I just like.
Killian [rhymes with Jillian] Reid 'Kian'
Am a sucker for Irish names and know the sweetest boy named Killian. Reid is in honour of my high school tutor.
Kiran Taliesin
I just really like Kiran (it's Sanskrit and means 'ray of light'). Taliesin honours my Welsh heritage and I like the myth around him.
Noah Dadedalus [day-dah-lus]
Ages ago I dreamt that I had a son named Noah, so have taken it as a sign. It's a great name anyway. Dadedalus is a character in Greek myth that I admire.
River Thomas
River is after the river of life (in Siddhartha) and River Phoenix. Thomas is my brother's middle name.
Rowan Atticus 'Roan'
Rowan fits with my love of nature, and celtic heritage. Atticus for the character of course, he is a most admirable namesake.

I also adore the name Adam, but can't find a good combo with it.

girls

Aislinn [ash-lyn] Symphony
Aislinn is another Irish name, it has such a beautiful meaning. As for Symphony, it just such a nice ring to it, fits with all the other words names but still really unusual (do like it as a fn, but it seems a bit much).
Autumn Clair
Autumn is my favourite time of year. Clair is my original mn, I still like but don't use it any more. Also one of my best friends is Clare.
Gaea [jee-uh] Hazel
Gaea is after the goddess, and earth itself (Gaea is the original spelling, and I'm a bit of a purist about that). Hazel for the whole nature/tree thing.
Faith Mariposa 'Fae'
I think Faith is such a wonderful virtue (I'm spirital, but not Christian) and sounds so beautiful. Mariposa is the Spanish word for butterfly. I adore butterflies, but 'Butterfly' itself doesn't have quite the right ring.
Freya Sonnet
Freya is Norse Goddess of love & war, have always admired her. Someone on another forum loved Sonnet as a name, so it kinda grew on me.
Lily Maeve
Lilies are my favourite flowers, and my mother's name means lily so it would sort of be after her. Maeve I just think it beautiful.
Magnolia Bronwen 'Maggie'
Magnolia for the flowers, and song 'sugar magnolia'. She'd probably called Maggie all the time though, as I think that's adorable. Bronwen for my Welsh heritage.
Rain Sophia
Rain is just such an elegant unusual name. Sophia means wisdom, which I like. Hope it will inspire her to greatness.
Ruby Aesara [ee-saw-ruh]
Ruby is my longest standing fave girls name, probably after Ruby Tuesday (the song). Aesara was an ancient Greek philosopher, think she makes such an inspirational namesake. That and it's just so cool and unusual.
Sequoia Lucy
My mother's name states with an S and has a meaning related to a plant, as does mine, so I sort of want to keep that going. Lucy, is basically the only thing I can find that flows. Though I like the song Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
Summer Julia
I like the sound of summer, and it's a happy time of year. Julia is after a good friend.
Willow Rhiannon
Willows are just so beautiful, Rhiannon after the Goddess and song.
