Opinions on the name Fuchsia?

(Pronounced Few-sha)

I'm not big on naming kids after colors (Blue-i actaully know a guy named Blue, Violet, Hunter etc..) but as far as those types of names goes, I think it's pretty.

Um. It would make me think of Gormenghast, and the nickname fucks-yer. Because kids are cruel. Sorry.

Beautiful flower, lovely colour, potentially dodgy as a first name. :(

At least the spelling is correct though :)

Its one of my favourite flowers, but agreed, dodgy as a first name.

She did (the flower was named in honor of someone with the last name Fuchs). But you point out an important drawback here, and that is that this word is a spelling challenge for most people. I would surely think twice about giving a child a name that would guarantee that she'd have to spell it out for people every time.

Oh yes, that's definitely how it's spelled. It was bred by a man named Fuchs.

I like it. It's reminds me of the name, Molly Blue.

Lavender.. Violet etc. ='s ok.. but Fuschia =/ Some colors just shouldn't be names. IMO I don't even think Fuschia sounds that pretty. Sorry.

There was this movie with Dudley Moore and John Lithgow called "Santa Claus" and they have these candy things and they call the color Puchsia (pronounced pew-sha) either a mix of pink and fuchsia or purple and fuchsia (haven't seen the movie in years) and that is what the word makes me think of. Not such a good association for me.
