Lucinda

I met someone recently called Lucinda, it was the first time I'd heard the name. Just thought I'd put it out there although it's not one I'd use myself. I guess it'd be good for people who like the nicknames Lucy or Cindy.

it was the name of a character in a book I've read, she was a young black female living in a low-ish class area of London. She was on her way of building a modeling career, had a strong personality. It suited her very well.
So maybe I'm too influenced by the book, but I think I can only picture it on black women. In that case, it's a very "shiny" and feminine name to me.

Hehe, my brother dated a Lucinda who was a very posh white girl from Worcestershire, so I can only picture it on that type of person :)

There's an American soap opera I used to watch and there was a Lucinda in it.
I don't really like it, but yeah, you can good nicknames out of it :)

it was on my list (nn Lucy) but I dumped it after we named our son Linus... my husband still wants to use it though. maybe for our 10th kid when it won't look so intentional.

HAHAHAHA. Sorry, that just made me laugh, the idea of a real life sibset named Linus and Lucy. That would be seriously fabulous :)

I've never met a person named Linus! I met a dog named Linus once, but that's it.

well, so far Linus is sandwiched between a Germaine and a Dietrich, so 1) I don't think Lucy really goes with the set as a whole, but 2) if we did use it it would definitely be way in the future after a variety of other names had been used (we plan on a lot of kids) and then people wouldn't necessarily make the connection. but I've got like 3 or so other girl names I like better, so it's really not likely that my husband could talk me into this.

It's a pretty name, but not one I'd use. I was raised on As the World Turns, so I always think of it as an old lady name. I love the name Lucy though.

I love Lucinda! Lucinda Louise is one of my girl's name. Louise is a family name, but it's one of the only alliterative names I like.
