Dropping a favorite name
I'm not expecting (to my knowledge, lol) but I like thinking of baby names, especially when I'm in a serious relationship.
My set-in-stone favorite for a girl this time around was Isabella (I live in Italy, so it's a known name here that has never been trendy), with Maria as a middle name, for various reasons: I really like it also as a first name, it would have honoured my SO's side of the family (his granny loves it), and also after Christina Aguilera's middle name (she's one of my big musical inspirations).
Isabella is just a name that popped in my mind one day and I've loved it ever since. I've always loved Ella as a nickname (but I really like Izzy, too), and liked Isabel and Elizabeth for quite some time. It would also flow perfectly with his last name, which starts with L.
Now I recently came across two considerations..
I found out Isabella is the name of a girl my bf used to date (not an important girlfriend, just dated a short while) and I also realized that because he's from Rome and I'm from Florence we pronounce Isabella in a slightly different way: I say Ee-zah-bella and he tends more towards Ee-ssah-bella.
People in Rome would also generally tend to double the 'b' sound, and his area is more likely where we'd wind up, if we lived together.
So should I start looking for a new favorite? lol
Have you ever dropped names you liked when you found out they belonged to someone and wasn't too keen on the association?
Also, what happens to the names we decide for our kids with one partner, when you have a relationship with someone else? I feel like I could never use any of the ones I'd picked in the past.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I never talked about baby names with a partner before my husband. I thought about them myself but always figured I'd have to heavily revise my list once I had someone to discuss them with. I was right.
