since sib sets seem to be so important, what sibling set are you a part of (if you aren't an only child, that is)? what other sets are there in your family?

i'm the latter half of Rebecca Jeanette (b. 1980) and Karen Diana (b. 1984)

my mom is Carolyn Conde (b. 1950), her older sister is Elizabeth Jeanette (c. 1947), and her younger sister is Phyllis Whittemore (c. 1953)

her mother was Ruth Marion (c. 1912), whose sister was Elizabeth. my mom's father was Conde (no middle name, no siblings).

my dad is Charles Robert (b. 1951), and his older brother is Jay Snider (b. 1945).

my dad's father was Jay Evans (b. 1915), his siblings included Ruth, Edna, Thurston Tyler (c. 1912), and Donald. my dad's mother was Margaret Janette (b. 1916), and her sister was Katherine Elizabeth (b. 1913)

and all my first cousins are only children, but they are Grace Whittemore, Elizabeth, Michael Conde, and Catherine Elizabeth.

looking at these, it has become evident, that there is a shortage of names in my family (plenty of repetition), and that i am seriously WASPy.

Apparently my name is pretty common!

I'm Katherine Elizabeth (1986) and my only sibling is Amelia Margaret (1991).

My mother, Margo Lee (1957) had a stillborn younger sister LeAnne Margo (1960ish). Her parents had ZERO imagination in names, as they are Margaret Isabella (1924) and LeRoy Melvin (1910). LeRoy was an only child, but Margaret was the youngest of six. The oldest was a still born, Lorena (1901), then Jewel Elizabeth (1904), William Gus (1907), Charlotte Melba (1909 or 1910), and Mildred Louise (1912).

My father, Brett Alan (1960), has a kazillion siblings. He shares a father, Dale, with Dale Lloyd, Gloria Ann, Judith Marie, and Sandra Belle. He shares a mother, Beatrice Marie, goes by Marie, with Todd Beau, Melanie Marie, Denise Marie, Michelle Marie, and Laura Marie.

This teaches me that my grandmother really liked the name Marie. I also know she tried to pick names that didn't have nicknames.

My boyfriend's family is amusing. His mother's name is Mary Jane, and his dad is Kenneth Ernest. His sisters are Patricia Ann (1976) and Lisa Marie (1978). He is Kevin Kenneth (1986). The worst part is that his mother honestly wanted to name her children Priscilla Ann, Lisa Marie, and Elvis Ernest. Like the Presley family. Luckily, Kevin's dad stepped in and helped out. *g*

My maternal grandmother, Mary Ann, had two daughters, Julie Ann and Theresa Marie. She picked first names she liked and the middle names were her name/family names.

My dad's family is big, they were just names his mother liked that I don't like or see as "going together" at all. Linda, Leslie(f), Barton, Cory(m), Angela, and Barbara.

So Julie and Bart came together and had me and my sister, Maggie and Abbie.

I don't put much of any stock in "sib sets." I think it's ridiculous to base what you name your children on how they sound together, or other such nonsense. I think of each child as an individual, and as such, my children's names are not going to be specially coordinated. :)

I don't know if my parents took into consideration the whole sib set thing, but we're Brian Allan, Lori Anne (me), and Stephanie Nicole.

Brian's son is Alex Arthur; Steph's kids are Johnathan Riley, Logan Delaney, and Nicole Anne.

Dad is Allan John, his brother is Kenneth Arthur. Kenneth has three son's named Gregory, Thomas, and Daniel - which I consider pretty classic (sorry I don't know mns).

Mom is Vicki Annette and she has three siblings - Larry Wayne, Diana Gail, and Loretta Jean.

Larry's kids are Eric Wayne and Melissa Rueann (Melissa's kids are Elliot Charles and Emily Marie, step kids are Libby and Audra).

Diana's kids are Amber Lynn and Joshua John Moxely Taylor. Amber has a daughter named Riley Page.

Loretta's kids are Jason Douglas and Ryan Matthew.

I don't remember all of my grandparent's sib sets, but names that stick out in my mind are:

Michael Anthony (second brother)'s kids:

Dominick Anthony has a half-brother, Mathew Dylan (b 1999). Their mother is Tracy (don't know her middle name?).

Lilliana and Scarlett's mother is Jennifer Marie. HER sisters are Barbara, Catrina and Leslie.

My family has the best last name: Wildman.

I am Samantha Courtney (1988) and I have two siblings, Bailey Nicole (1994) and Morgan Alexandra (1995). Bailey would have been Berkley Scott which would have reflected the tradition regarding middle names on my father's side.

My father is Scott Vincent, son of Vincent and Ilene. He has two youngers siblings named Kevin and Karen (not twins). Kevin is the only one with children, a twelve year old stepson named Seth and an eight month old daughter named Caitlin Grace.

My mother is Donna Ann, the daughter of Richard and Normandi. My grandmother is the only one of all of the people without middle names that I listed that actually doesn't have a middle name. The rest of them I just don't know their middle names. She has two older siblings and one younger sibling named David Alan, Debra Ann, and Doree Ann. If you'll notice, all the names begin with the letter D, have five letters, and are in alpabetical order.

David and his wife Brooke have two daughters and a son named Brittany, Taylor, and Christian. Debra and her husband Monty have two children, Megan and Ames. Doree has two daughters, Amanda and Mikaela.
