Watching BBC's 'How the Mind Works'.

This name came up-- Charlotta. WDYT? I don't hate it but it sounds like a weird cross between Charlotte and Carlotta.

yeah, it does look like a cross, I don't like it, but maybe its because I love Charlotte as a name, and it seems strange to change it like that

I've heard it a few times here (Europe). I prefer Charlotte. It sounds... Charlotta sounds... tacky. Somehow.

It sounds like it should be legitimate, but I don't think it is. I think it is just a cross between two names (which are essentially the same name anyway).
