[identity profile] monalyssasmile.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So, I was at work today and I wasn't doing anything so I thought I'd think of middle names for one of my favorites, Aurelia.  I've been using the middle name Kate to go with it but I just didn't like it enough.  Well I wrote down all the names I could think of that I liked and I decided on Aurelia Jo.  What do you think about it?  I'm just imagining cheering her name at softball games and thought that sounded good and it sounded decent with the nickname Relie (relle-ee).  I also like the option of her going by her middle name and me getting to call her one of my favorite nicknames of Joey.

In my opinion, Jo isn't pretty enough for Aurelia and it sounds really.. overly southern. Like Bobby Jo or something.

My suggestions...

Aurelia Faye
Aurelia Scarlett
Aurelia Cecile
Aurelia Catrine
Aurelia Lisette
Aurelia Celeste
Aurelia Fleur
Aurelia Genevieve
Aurelia Josephine
Aurelia Juliet
Aurelia Simone
Aurelia Katherine
Aurelia Caroline
Aurelia Bridget
Aurelia Charlotte
Aurelia Gabrielle
Aurelia Grace
Aurelia Jane
Aurelia Madeleine
Aurelia Meredith

Aurelia Scarlett

Now that is southern.

I think Aurelia Jo sounds pretty. I have a niece named Amy Jo, and it's all her first name. She doesn't have a middle.

Scarlett has become more glamourous sounding than southern sounding, I think. But stuff like Bobby Jo and Annie Jo and What-Have-You Jo has and will always sound very southern.

Aurelia is far too.. feminine for Jo. I don't think Jo compliments it at all. They come from two very different categories, to me.

Those are all nice except I don't like Lockhart and Frances. Lockhart because it's the name of a certain bad-ish HP character, and Frances because it's always leaned more on the male side to me.

I think Aurelia Jo is perfect! One is very feminine and the other one is spunky and more masculine. This way it sounds like it's a beautiful girl, but yet not too girly with the right amount of sugar and the right amount of spice and spunk :) I think you should definitely go with this combination, and your nickname, Relie is very cute, as is Joey. Great picks!

Jo is too...plain and, don't take this the wrong way, South. You have a good thing going with Aurelia, it sounds and looks pretty, but then it sort of stops abruptly with Jo and I get a feeling of being sort of let down.

I'd do Aurelia Josephine, and you can still use Jo or Joey. It just sounds so much more elegant.
