[identity profile] neverstarsburn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I went to Maine with a friend last month, and now I'm a day camp counselor, so I've run across quite a few kids names in the past weeks, here are a few interesting (some good, some not so good) ones

female:
Willow
Elora (said Ee-Laura)
Rowena
Adelyn
Fallon

Male:
Hawken (strange because theres a prep school in my city named that)
Alden

thoughts?

I love the name Rowena, mostly because I associate it with Harry Potter... I like Willow, too, even if I'd never use it and it is kindof out there.

Adelyn sounds like Addison + Madelyn.

Adeline is a french diminuitive of Ada/Adele, that has taken on as a name by itself :) they pronounce it Ad-uh-LEEN.

Ah, okay :) I've only taken one year of French in high school and I'm not very familiar with French names. I do like Adeline much, much more than Adelyn.

I'm chuckling hard at Fallon, it sounds so.. phallic!
'Fallo' is also the italian word for 'phallus', so that's where I'm taking it from.

i'm pretty sure that Hawken is an anglicized version of Haakon which is a Norweigen name

i like the name in its original nordic spelling but hate the anglicized version

I love Willow, Elora, Rowena, and Adelyn. Not a fan of the boys names.

I like Willow and Fallon; I love Elora. I've hated Rowena since I saw Biloxi Blues (Rowena was the hooker), but I love Rowen. Don't care much for Adelyn.

I love Hawken! I've never heard it before...Alden, not so much.
