Not sure if this is 100% real or not.

But what do you think of the name Callixtus Severus?

Also, would you ever let your child name your baby? Or have you known someone who has?

i know a family with 4 children.
Austin and Dustin (1 year apart in age)
and Shane and Dane (1 year apart from each other, Shane is 3 years younger than Dustin.)

Dane was going to be named Michael, but Austin decided he should be named Dane instead.
i think it's cute.

but i wanted to name my brother Mouse, so it could go badly...

my french teacher told me that she allowed her daughter to name her son since they were born many years apart and she wanted to make sure that the daughter felt included...

Um, That is one of the worst names I've ever heard.

I know a couple who let their sons name their daughter (She is Susan, known as Susie - I think she is lucky). She is 28 now.

I'd never let my kid name my baby!

I really hope it's not true. If so I feel bad for the child already. Especially when he could have been named Aiden. And I love that she seems utterly unconcerned about him getting picked on later in life for the name.

Looking at the judgement kids have with naming pets, not unless there was a huge age gap between the kids. Say 10-15 years.

Yes, a family friend let her 4-year old daughter Harriet name her baby brother, and she picked Henry, exactly because she liked that it sounded like her name.
I think it wasn't such a good call, especially because they're from the UK, where you already can't tell Harry from Henry.

Then one of my ex-bf's was asked to pick the name for his baby sister (also 4 years apart), but he was given two names to pick from, Vittoria and Margherita (Victoria and Margaret in Italy) and he picked Margherita, which also means 'daisy' in italian. And she's such a tomboy lol.

My cousin's daughter, Skylar, picked her little brother's name. She told my cousin that his name was going to be Logan Bryce and my cousin liked it so much that's what they named him.

On the other hand, they let my mom name my uncle and he's been stuck with Butch ever since...

As much as I like unique names (and Harry Potter names) I so wouldn't pin that name on a child. I hope it's not real.

I like Severus, but I'm not such a fan of Callixtus.

Also, I think it would be neat to let my child help name the baby. Obviously I wouldn't let the kid name the baby Frankenstein or something like that, but in the process, I'd definitely let my child help choose. I actually fully intend on doing that. My oldest is 8 months old right now and I'm not even a month pregnant for this one. I doubt he'll be talking by the time this baby rolls around, but perhaps he can help with the next one.

My friend was ten at the time his younger brother was born, and his father let him pick the name - he was Mac MacDonald. :X

I got to pick my sister's name when I was five. I named her Melody. I think it's pretty bad now, but she loves it and it really suits her.

That entire thread provided me with so much entertainment I'm kind of glad she named her kid that, lol. Yay trolls.

The girl is apparently 16, which you'd think would be old enough to name a kid. She just has awful taste, I guess. :x

My parents couldn't decide on what they wanted to name my youngest sister, so my other sisters and I got to vote on it.

I actually kind of like it. o.o Callixtus is cool (I'm a fan of Calixte for girls), and Severus...well, like ALL HP names it can only be associated with one thing now, but since he's my favorite character and TOTALLY deserves to be commemorated...;)

But no, in general I would not call it a good idea to let kids name babies.

My friend's older sister named her -- she picked it from a list her parents had made. Luckily she had good taste, despite being three at the time, and picked Adrienne, which I think is a great name.

I'm also HOPING that's fake. Probably an RPG or something. Or someone with an overactive imagination.

I would consider asking my kid(s) for input, and say, "hey, here is a list I like. Pick the one you like the best." But I wouldn't let them have free reign over the name, either.

I would never let my child name my baby. Bad idea. I knew a girl who was named by her sister - her name was Treean.

I would let my kid make suggestions, and if it wasn't retarded, then I would allow it. But if it was like..Bunnyrabbit Cutiekins, then I'd be like "okay kid, lets rethink this..." and then I'd call a psychologist.

My brother picked my name for me (he was four and had a crush on a girl at his playgroup called Laura). It was originally my middle name (parents picked the first and other middle) but I like it a lot better than my original name - score one for my brother!

I have a friend who's 7 year old brother named her Leia after seeing Star Wars. They say it's a good thing she was a girl, or else she would have been named Chewbacca.

I was about three when my sister was born, and I insisted that she be named Rainbow Flower Waterbaby (no idea where that came from). My mom didn't go for it, but she did design the birth announcements to be what we imagined a rainbow flower waterbaby would look like: a baby sitting on a lily pad in a pond with a rainbow in the background. They're really cute announcements, and a much better use of the name. Haha.

My friend's brother named her. He was like four at the time and named her April, I'm assuming just cause she was born in the month of April. Creative, no? lol. But, it's normal.

I would never let someone else name my children. At the most, if I had two names that I would love equally, I would allow the older sibling to choose. Or maybe my husband (ha, ha, I kid...ahem). If someone asked me to choose their baby's name, I would need time far in advance to pick their brain about their favorite names, places, grandmothers, aunts, et cetera. All of things that I would consider in a child's name and already know, I'd have to research completely.

I had a preschool student who wanted to name his on the way baby sister Dildo. He was very very insistent about it.

I have a 4 year old now myself and he will not be having any input on his sibling's name or I'd end up with a son named Superman, Jack Sparrow or Luke Skywalker or a daughter named Cinderbella(his version of Cinderella), Leia Organa, or Padme Amidala.

My cousin was five at the time when his sister and brother were born. He wanted to name them after the Beatles (Ringo was his favorite name pick). His mom and dad picked Abbey as their daughter's name (after Abbey Road) to, in a way, honor their son's love of the Beatles.
