The other day I was cleaning out my dad's old files of patients [most of whom have probably passed away by now] and I found a few names.

Edna- not for me, but I still think it's pretty
Ethel- same as above
Rosemary- when I first saw it, i cringed, but it's grown on me and I like it quite a bit now :)

and the most exotic-

Exazine- First name, I don't know if the patient was male or female, but I like it for a girl. I didn't like it when I first read it but it's uniqueness really got me, and now I love it. I don't think i'd ever name my child that, so that's another one for my guilty pleasures list ;)

what do you think?

Rosemary was actully my grandma's name, but she just went by Rose. My other's grandma is Mary. I've thought about using the name Mary Rose.

I have a cat named Ethel, and`as much as I love her, I still think it is an old lady name. I like Rosemary though ;)

My mom's name is Edna, she grew up in the 60s and 70s so it was always an older name for her. It's not my style at all, but I would consider using it or some variation as a middle name.

Rosemary is nice, but I prefer other "Rose" names, like Rosa or Rosalie.

Exazine is very interesting, I wonder where it comes from.

I know two Rosemarys who are about 16, and another older one. So the name doesn't seem especially weird or stuffy to me. It has the same feel as quite a few names that are becoming fashionable, so wouldn't suprise me if it did get more use.

Edna just makes me think of Bart's teacher from The Simpsons.
Ethel has that really stuffy old lady feel too.
So I can't quite get into those, which is odd because I like Edith.

Exazine is interesting, haven't heard that before.

I would assume that Exazine was a boy. I don't know it sounds like a medicine to me :P

My mother is an Ethel, and she hated her name growing up (she's 64). I think she got jokes made about ethyl alcohol, or something like that.

Ethel forever makes me think of I Love Lucy, and one of my good friends through junior high and high school was named Rosemary so it doesn't sound too unusual or old fashioned to me. Edna sounds very old fashioned to me, though.

Exazine sounds like a medical procedure of some sort.

Exazine is a kind of chemical, and I highly recommend not using it as a baby name. Unless you want to name your twins Carbon and Dioxide.

I LOVE the name Rosemary. It's not trendy at all, can be shortened to Rose, Rosie, or Mary if she doesn't like the full name, and doesn't sound so stuffy that you'd HAVE to shorten it. The meaning is clear, and no icky cultural connotations (yet, but I'll bet I've just jinxed it and the next cocaine-addled celeb in the next generation will be a Rosemary)...

Plus, it's spelled intuitively to English speakers! Wow! All this in one name!
