I am picky about boys names because I don't like names that have switched sexes recently (so not including Meredith, Courtney and Shannon...those are girly to me), like the names Ryan or a lot of male Biblical names, like Noah. I am afraid to pick a name some weirdo used for their little girl, so I'm more picky about girls' names.
I think that girls are easier to name, as more unusual names can be used without bullying potential. Boys need strong, defining names that won't lead to beats.
Most boys names I either hate, don't mind but I have several family members with the name (David, Ross, Brett, Ryan) or are sorta classic boys names that are everywhere (Michael, Thomas, Steven, Alex). The only boy name I actually want to use is Titus, and I'm afraid the teasing potential for that is high...
I only have a short list of girls names that I'd ever use but I like almost all girls names
Most of my girls' names are pretty uncommon. Almost all of my boys' names are classic and have been somewhere near the top of the charts for a very long time.
I'm awesome at coming up with all sorts of names. People always ask me to come up with names and it takes me like two seconds. Serene Quinn. See? I just did it. Michael Tanner. I just did it again.
I find it WAY easier to come up with guys names that I love, but not that I'd use. The reason being that my fiance has a lot of cousins, and pretty much my entire top 10 boys names list, his cousins have those names. It's too close for me to reuse- they'd have the same last name and all. Others of my favourite names for boys don't go with his last name, or they belong to an extremely close friend. So while I have a long list of guys names I like, I currently have none I feel I could use.
With girls, I can't find many names that jump out to me enough to call my daughter that for her entire life; there are heaps I don't mind but few I love.

Girls are easier for me to come up with, but only because I'll probably stop liking them soon anyway.
