My boyfriend and I know a guy named Lex and one day we were talking about him and realized we didn't know if it were a nickname or not. We figured it could be a nickname for Alexander. I think I would actually prefer it to "Alex" if for some reason I ever decided to name my kid Alexander. Thoughts?

My fathers' name is Lex. Just Lex. No lengthened name or anything. And I love it. I would name my son that, but I don't like the idea of naming our children family names :)

A friend of mine was going to call her baby Lex if it was a boy. Just Lex not Alexander (She ended up having a girl called Charlie :))

Thought I'm not fond of the name anyway, (mainly because I know a lot of buttheads with the name) Lex is actually a pretty nice nickname.

Ha, I named a character in a story of mine Alexei and he goes by Lex.

I think it's a sweet name, although it does bring me back to my anime nerd days because it makes me think of the voice actor Lex Lang.

Lex Luther definitely comes to mind. I think I would be more likely to give it to a girl, just to eliminate the "Superman villain" association.
