Have any of you considered giving your children two middle names (or are you planning to)? I kind of like the idea. Hey, if Royalty can do it, so can we :) What I mean, of course, is that a lot of royals give their children multiple names.

I also think it's a nice way to honor two people without using one of the names as the first name. I like the combo Marian Eloise. Wdyt of Marian Catharina Eloise? Too much? Catharina is after me, as my name is Katherine.
Also...
I like Margaret Jane or Margaret Bellatrix. Margaret Bellatrix Jane? Margaret Jane Bellatrix? Which flows better? Margaret is my mum's name. And lastly, I like the name Brynja (It's Icelandic and means 'armour'). Out of these names, which two would go best with Brynja (all of them have signifigance):
Rilla Emmeline Helen Lavender Cecily Bronwen Judith Maeve Anwen Meredith Antonia.
**Thanks in advance!

My cousin named her little girl Valerie Ella Michelle. Valerie's name was supposed to be just Valerie Michelle but my cousin's oldest, Veronica wanted to name the baby Ella. So they stuck Ella in :) I think Valerie Ella Michelle goes real good together. :) Anyways, If you have three names you REALLY like put them together if they fit.

How about Margaret Jane Bellatrix and Brynja Emmaline Anwen :)

Names are so fun :)

No, I wouldn't do it.

1. I rarely even use my one middle name, usually just the initial if anything. I'd have no practical use for another one.

2. Forms and stuff don't have space for a second middle name, so you'd usually have to end up choosing one of them anyway. And again, often there is only space for a single middle initial.

3. They are a mouthful. How often would you really address a child by a list of names?

4. They can seem pretentious to me.

That's not to say there aren't times it can be done -- where it's important that two grandmothers be namesakes, for example. But as a general rule, I don't it's practical or necessary.

I do like the names you're working with. The combos sound nice.

yeah... with my son, when filling out forms, we can only put Ryan J. even when giving his 'full' name over the phone it's only "Ryan J."

hm. now i feel obligated to give my future children two middle names now, that's the only draw back i've really found.

my son has two middle names. Josiah William Anthony. One for my biological father and one for my stepdad. I like that his name has meaning behind it. I don't really see a point to middle names if they don't mean something to you.

my parents kinda had to do it...
but they took a different approach
my full name is Arwen Rose-Doreen
rose was one grandmothers name, but my mom just liked how Arwen Rose flowed... but my other grandmother thought she was playing favorites so to shut her up, they stuck Doreen in there (gross).. but at least this way I can say i have "one" middle name since it's hyphinated and my middle initial is "R"

my son has two middle names... 1) because we gave him his father's last name, so instead of doing a hyphenated last name, i stuck mine in as a middle name... 2) his two middle names are my grandfather's first & last, & i wanted him to have his name in there anyway.

It's hard to pick two to go with Brynja, because the ethnic origin of the names are so different! I do, however, love the name Rilla. Have you read LM Montgomery's Rilla of Ingleside?

I'm thinking of doing it with all my children, but instead of giving them two middle names like "Amarilly Catherine Elizabeth [last name]", I'm going to use my last name as the second middle name. I don't want my last name to be forgotten, but I don't want to have my kids have a hyphenated name. My last name is already seven letters long, and what if I marry someone with a really long last name, like Russian, Greek, or Armenian? That way, my last name will be handed down and at the same time they'll have the convenience of one last name. So for example:

Ophelia Xanthia [my maiden name] [husband's name].

Like how it is in Mexico and other Latin American countries. The mom's name is handed down, but the dad's name is used on legal documents.

I think two middle names CAN sound nice if all the names fit together well and kinda flow and arnt all long and make the name sound complicated. Having meaning behind names is cool too.
Brynja Lavender is cute. I love the name Lavender, its one of my favourites! :)

I wanted my son to have Patrick James as his middle names but my boyfriend wanted his last name hyphenated (Which I HATE, its so embarrassing...Treat-Baker...my poor son lol)

My next child will definitely have two middle names because this time I'm putting my foot down. lol

I really like Margaret Bellatrix Jane out of your picks. Or Jane Margaret Bellatrix is cute too. :)

well

when i was planning on naming maxwel we had robert picked out for both my uncle and grandfather who passed away plus robert is a big family name.....and my father likes the name ian so he was going to be maxwel ian robert but max's dad HATED the two middle names and i also have a friend her sons name is kaydan david george and her nefew is kameron don george

so the two middle names is becoming quite popular now
