Thaila

WDYT about Thaila (pronounced like Tyler)? It's the first name of the actress who recently played the fake housemate on the UK version of Big Brother.

Personally, I think it looks a lot more feminine that Tyler, which is sometimes used as a girl's name, but I still don't like it. I think it's probably because I just don't like Tyler as a name anyway.

NB: ThaILa, not ThaLIa. So the pronunciation is like the beginning of Thailand, then a short "a" sound (which to me is very similar to an "er" sound, but apparently not to everyone the world over).

I cannot see any way Thalia can be pronounced like Tyler.

Except that it's misspelled here. The actress who was in Big Brother is named Thalia. IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1033835/).

Neither can I.

Theres also that Mexican singer Thalia who's married to Mariah Carey's ex-husband, and I believe it's pronunced "ta (like in 'tall')-lee-ah"

I just had to say how much I love and adore both the username AND the icon.

Carry on.

I've only ever heard Thalia pronounced as "Tall-yah" or "Tall-ee-ah".

I'm from Virginia; I pronounce "tall" and "tahl" the same. :/

I think it's too confusing - people either aren't going to know how to pronounce it, or they'll confuse it for the name Tahlia.

Thalia pronounced like Tyler doesn't really make any sense to Americans. We never would drop the R on the end of Tyler.

I love the name Talia said tal-ee-uh. I like the name Tyler (even on girls). I dislike Thalia because the H is confusing as hell to me.

It's not dropping the r, it's adding the r, in English accents an 'a' at the end of a word has an 'er' sound.

In Boston they drop r's in a lot of words, and they also add the er sound to words that and in an 'ah' sound. I grew up about an hour outside of Boston and spent my life being Hanner...

I like Thaila. It reminds me of my old bunny names Thaia.

No. I think that's a misspelling of Thalia, and that name is pronounced Tal-ee-ah.

After reading the comments, I think the least you can say about it, is that it's a confusing name LOL

Anyways I like Talia (Tah-lee-ah), but not Thalia nor Thaila. They genereate endless confusion as to how they're pronounced (Tuh-lee-ah, Thay-lee-ah, Thay-lah..etc)

I actually like it way better than Tyler and I don't think it's a confusing name at all o_0
I also think you're right about the name looking more feminine.

I love Tyla for a girl. It is easy to pronounce but it looks more feminine than Tyler. I'd pronounce Thalia - Tar-lee-a.

I love the name!
I don't think it's that hard to understand the pronounciation, Thai obviously looks like it would be prnounced Ty to me...and then the lah sound on the end.
I like it ;)
