The name Jayden

Wasn't heard of before late 2004.
Well, was.. but not nearly as much.

I named my son Jayden.

and now it's like the 'most typical' name lol.. along with the Hayden, Kaden, Ayden.

What do you think about it?

I used to babysit a boy named Jayden when I was in high school. At that time he was the only one I had ever met with the name. He is 8 years old now.
I don't know how the name became so popular.
I'm waiting for his brother's name to get popular too (Dalton)

I love the name Jayden. I liked it before it was popular. I think is great. I don't know where the trend came from though

I honestly can't stand it. It is, like you said, way too typical.

I really do not like any "-ayden/aden/aden" names except for Aiden. It's not even because of the popularity, although that makes them completely undesirable to me, I simply do not like the style & never will.

I hate all of the -ayden names. Jayden, at least, could be shortened to Jay, but seriously, Hayden? What're you going to call him - Hay?

Aidan isn't bad, when spelled that way, but it's gotten so trendy I could SCREAM.

No offense, I just really hate all of those names. They're way too trendy for my tastes. But hey, if you like it, that's what matters.

I hate it. It sounds super duper trendy to me.
I mean fair enough you were one of the first to start the trend I guess, so you weren't to know.. but it was just unlucky on your part.

I'm curious: where do you people live that Aiden & Hayden are so popular? I live & work in a place where I swear is having the biggest baby boom EVAR and RARELY hear or meet of Aiden's and Hayden's (both names I love).

Jayden is uber popular, and I really think it's a girl name. But I really don't like it, I don't know why.

i know a lot of little boy Jayden's, but for some reason it just strikes me as a girl name, probably it's similarity to Jade/Jayde.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

When I was pregnant with Seth, I was in a Maternity Group Home. He was born in May 2003.

In the time I was there, they were NINE boys born named Jayden (and various spellings thereof, but all with J's). When Seth was born, and I left with him, there were another FOUR Jayden's waiting to be born.

It was heard long before "late 2004", i'm sorry to say. It became extremely popular after Will and Jada Smith named their son Jadan, but it WAS being used even before that.

Oh, and because of HOW many kids have, I dislike it, along with all the Kaylen, ayden, brayden, Jaylen,Jayleen and anything else related really. Although, it IS easier to be ok with with the K for some reason...

If you meant it that way, you should have said "it wasn't heard much around here, not that "it wasn't heard much". Because the latter way, its completely incorrect.

Uh, if what I said was read as "not calm" that would be a reflection of the readers mood, not my own.

Ok, I'm sorry, but this comment doesn't even make sense. I'm not trying to be rude, but honestly, your last comment here really *doesn'T* make sense.

Where did I "get that from"? Your own comment!

Uh, when you leave something open and generalized like that, that means in general, its not heard of. But in fact, it was IN YOUR AREA it was not much heard of, while it was EXTREMELY popular in MANY areas of the country.

and OMFGLOLLMAOROFL. I love when little girls like you do that!! "You pwned me because I was an idiot, so I will bring up mention of the dramaz (essentially putting myself in it!!) but pretend to be above it (though I really CAN'T be because *I* just brought it up!!!!"

when will you children learn? LOL!!

LULZTATSIC. You really are. That's cute, though. You don't have a master-hand on the English language, and then get whiney when someone points out that you wrote incorrectly, and tell you what semantics makes your post mean.

if you want you post to say what you actually mean, perhaps you should type it properly.

Just sayin'

I don't like any of the -aden names really, but at least with Jayden you can call him Jay which is cool.

I really dislike it. and not because it's trendy, I disliked it the first time I heard it, and am very saddened by the fact that it became so popular.

I don't care for the name, but that's because I don't care for the name Jade and it just seems like someone altered it for a boy.

Well personally my style of favourite boys names is very traditional (David, James, etc) so I don't go for those sorts of names myself but Jayden is fine really. I think that if people try to name their child something 'different' it will backfire, so it's best to just name them your absolute favourite name since you'll love it always no matter whether there are 10 of them in his class or not. I mean, yes there are heaps of Jaydens and Haydens, but there always have been a lot of Michaels and Bens, so it's not much different from other names in that sense, really. Although you can look up the popular names from the last few years before your baby is due to kind of predict how popular your name is going to be, but still it's always going to be a bit of a gamble.

Ok I don't know what i'm going on about now lol

I think its a pretty flimsy name, not strong like Charles or James or something like that. Trendy names aren't really my style, and hopefully he has a fairly normal middle name that won't scream trend-city.
