[identity profile] ladiebug2u.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I need your opinion between two middle names. My husband and I were going back and forth about the middle name for our baby. We decided what we like better but his side of the family keeps saying it like we picked a horrible name so I'd like an unbiased opinion.

Lily Ann ...last name sounds like Talen with a long a

or Lily Catherine

Catherine is my first name and Ann is the second so that's where they came from. I like the first because my Grandmother's name was Lilian. She HATED that name but it's similiar but different. My MIL's comment was that Ann is like Ruth and basically she hates it. What do you all think?

Thanks!

That is adorable! And solves a problem for two of my theoretical daughters: I keep going back between Annabelle Rose (which means nothing but I like it better) and Annabelle Kate (which I like less with Annabelle but is my middle name.) Lily's on my short list and I was thinking of longer middle names for that, but I couldn't think of one I loved, and Lily Kate is pretty fab. Cate actually looks nicer, but...ah well, it doesn't matter, they're theoretical kids anyway, I doubt I'll have any.

I like both, but Catherine is very classic to me, so I'm all for that one. :)

Ann is like Ruth
Huh?

I think Lily is a nice name. Ann sounds weird paired with Lily, because it sounds like Lillian, so I like Catherine better. But if that doesn't matter to you, either combo is nice.

What do they think is so awful about the names?

I like Lily Catherine a lot better; it flows easier. Someone above mentioned Lily Cate as a nickname, which is really cute.

I like Lily Catherine. It flows well. I think Ann is too plain.

I prefer Lily Ann, just because I don't like the name Catherine.
Lily Cate is cute though.
My friend has a daughter named Lily Alice which I think is also cute :)

Honestly? This is very unlike me but I am liking the sound of both middle names together - Lily Ann Catherine.

I think that Lily Catherine sounds better of the two. Lily Ann sounds likes her name Lillian got divided by accident on a birth certificate. What about Lillian Ann (Lil-e-en Ann so it wouldn't be the 'ann' 'ann' endings)

There's nothing wrong with Ann.. or Catherine... or even Ruth.. .so I don't really see what all the fuss is about - you can't go wrong with either of those, they're both lovely names.

Lily Catherine, it flows better :)
Lily Ann seems a bit choppy, especially with fairly short surname too.

I actually think Lily Ann is hard to say. You automatically want to say Lilian. I think Lily Catherine is pretty :)
