[identity profile] ex-bluebonn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I recently came across the following boy's name (keep in mind that I never saw it in print).

Baron

WDYT? Any other spellings you'd like to offer? Bayron? Bearon?

I'd read it Bah-ron. Bah as in the sheep's sound, so not the same as Bay-ron.
In order to read it Bay-ron, I'd spell it Bairon.

I would be more inclined to pronounce it like the Red Baron. Then it would be a pretty cool name. But the way you heard... hmmm :/

Bah-ron is an okay name, but not Bayron. It sounds like a coastguard robot.

I keep wanting to pronounce it Bah-rone, but I still sometimes say it like, Bear-in.

Seems to surname-y for me.

It made me think of Donald Trump's son, Barron.

I used to work for Pawsenclaws & Co., whose mascot was Bearon Byron Bon Pawsenclaws. Seriously. I wouldn't go with that name.

I can't think of a single title name that I like (Duke, Earl...ugh). Definitely don't like Baron, no matter how they're pronouncing it.

Isn't that one of the Hiltons' names...
It is ok, but I think The Red Baron!

I think of it as a title, and see some kind of Englishman costume thingy.

Then, I think of the word barren... as in, barren soil, or a barren woman.

It otherwise sounds ok though, but I couldn't use it cos of those associations.
