I'd read it Bah-ron. Bah as in the sheep's sound, so not the same as Bay-ron.
In order to read it Bay-ron, I'd spell it Bairon.

I would be more inclined to pronounce it like the Red Baron. Then it would be a pretty cool name. But the way you heard... hmmm :/

I think of it as a title, and see some kind of Englishman costume thingy.

Then, I think of the word barren... as in, barren soil, or a barren woman.

It otherwise sounds ok though, but I couldn't use it cos of those associations.
