[identity profile] fruhlings.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So right now, I'm in the very beginning stages of writing a story (I have no clue how long it will be), and I'm really stuck on this one character and her name.

Her husband is named Ambrose, her daughter (who died young) was named Calla, her other two daughters are tenatively named Valerie and Christin, and her son's name is still undecided.

Here are some of this woman's characteristics:

--resourceful and clever
--disraught over the death of her daughter, but over time, this grief has turned to anger and resentment, particularly towards her husband and Valerie
--stoic-seeming and regal-like to outsiders; always looks her best
--tense and bitter at times
--fiercely protective of Calla's legacy/memory
--powerful and commanding, especially to people outside the family (the family is well-established in the community and is regarded as a bit of minor royalty by the townspeople)

I originally named her Dacey for some reason, but I'm really rethinking that. :/

Any help is appreciated. :]

I'm not sure why but the first thing that came to mine is Victoria. It fits with Ambrose nicely and looks like a tarnsfer of V names from mother to daughter. Other ideas: Camille, Darcy (similar to your Dacey idea).

Isabelle was the first name to come to mind, possibly because there is an Isabelle in the novel that I'm writing, and her personality sounds similar.

those sound like names from a family that is "well established in the community" before she was anything else, she was named by a mother that was well established in the community and regarded as minor royalty, right?
