Am I crazy for liking the names:

Wolfgang
&
D'Artagnan?

Of course, I'd only have the courage to use them as middle names. But I love the associations I have with both names. Wolfgang, of course, is for Wolgang Amadeus (sp?) Mozart, and D'Artagnan is from the Three Musketeers (He was my favourite)

Wdyt?

I don't even know how to pronounce D'Artagnan.

Does Mozart really mean enough to you to use Wolfgang as a middle name if you're not sure how to spell part of his name? There's also Wolfgang Puck, the chef.

If you like them, though, you like them. It's your choice what you name your children. Hopefully they will like their names as much as you do, and if not, you won't hold it against them for choosing a different name/nick name to go by.

Oh, ok. Now it sounds vaguely familiar with regard to the 3 Musketeers. Thanks.

I like the name Amadeus but I would only use it as a middle name though.

I LOVE D'Artagnan!!!

He is my favorite Musketeer too!

How funny.

Even though our kids do have unusual names ... my bf never would agree to D'Artagnan.

Pooey!

Before you name your child, please consider what a preschooler named D'Artagnan is going to go through. Then imagine a teenager named that.

well, i mean, they did say they would make it a middle name.

i don't see any harm in that, nobody knows your middle name unless you tell them or it's on something like legal papers, and they're not going to make fun of your middle name in court.

i think it's sort of nice to maybe add something interesting as a middle name.

I like names like that sometimes too, but I reserve them for 'pet names'. Things that are OK to name your dog or pet bunny, but would be cruel to burden a child with. Ya know?

I think they are a bit much.

But then I have Dulcinea and Nimue on my own girl list as *possible* mns. ;)

My brother wants to use Amadeus as his kid's middle name...I think William as the first name. For the same reason, Mozart references. :)

Like someone above mentioned, I do have names that I just ADORE but I could never saddle a child with, so they are my "pet names".

I think the names you mentioned as middle names are fine. They certainly aren't traditional but I do underestand love of books or historical names. I love literary referenced names, like Holden, Harper, Astrid, Salinger (even Atticus, as discussed some time back).

JOOI, Mozart's full given name was: Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. He changed Theophilus to Amadeus when he went touring. He was known as Wolferl most of his life.

Wolfgang is m least favorite name in the whole world. Just imagine going to a playground and yelling for little "Wolfie".

I love Wolfegang.... in my family there is the surnames Wolfe, and Swann and i have considered using both of them as middle names for my kids.
If there was an easier way to spell D'Artagnan, so people wuold know how to pronouce it...i think it is a lovely name

i had a cat named Wolfgang Amadeus Meowtzart :)

i dated a guy named Wolfie for 6 months nd thought it was just a nickname at first - then i saw his driver's license. i thought it was a super cool name but he hated it.

they both sound like great ideas for middle names!
