On my mother's side of the family, the family names are Cornelius and Aloysius for boys and Catherine (my mothers name) for girls. My father really wanted to name my brother Cornelius Aloysius, but my mother disliked the family names, and they named him Sean (a cousin ended up getting Aloysius, we call him Ally (said Olly), and another cousin got Cornelius as a middle name).
Growing up I thought those names were heinous (well, not catherine), but now Aloysius has really grown on me (I even named our newest car Aloysius).
What do you think of them?

I really don't like Cross, the same couple also has a daughter named Bobby-Sue, and my mother and I find it kind of ridiculous.

I was always ok with Mecca, but now that I know the significance behind the name (even though it isn't why my aunt and uncle picked it), I like it a lot more.

at first it was weird on a girl, griffin that is, but now i love it because it's odd but suits her.

i don't like cross either, but urban is like their family name they've been naming their sons since like the 1800's, so i find that kinda neat.

I like Anika better spelled Annika, I love Grey, I'm not a huge fan of Donald and I think Mikaela is an extremely obnoxious spelling choice. Urban and Cross are a bit trendy for me. Clara is cute. Mecca...I don't like it, honestly. It's like naming a kid Jerusalem, and weirder since it's not meant to be religious. I don't know.

i'm not certain if they spell it anika or annika, she was just born the other day. mikaela isn't said like mik-KAY-la but rather mih-KY-la (still weird though). funny that you think urban is trendy, its like their really old family name they've been using on all their sons since the 1800's

Oh, I love Cornelius. I think Aloysius is nice too but I like your father's idea of Cornelius Aloysius. And I think Helen and Clara are nice. Cross.... ehhh. Seems like you're naming a kid after a family last name, so if it isn't yours it sounds funny (to me at least).

griffin isn't typically a girls name, but its actually listed as unisex by most baby name books and sites. and it's fitting on her, despite her being very feminine

grey is a boy, we hated it when they did it but now it's jsut his name, so its grown on us
