Jul. 3rd, 2007 12:50 amOn my mother's side of the family, the family names are Cornelius and Aloysius for boys and Catherine (my mothers name) for girls. My father really wanted to name my brother Cornelius Aloysius, but my mother disliked the family names, and they named him Sean (a cousin ended up getting Aloysius, we call him Ally (said Olly), and another cousin got Cornelius as a middle name).
Growing up I thought those names were heinous (well, not catherine), but now Aloysius has really grown on me (I even named our newest car Aloysius).
What do you think of them?
Other family names:
Donald (big name on my dads side, including his name)
Mecca (cousin, they weren't trying to be religious)
Helen (cousin's baby)
Grey (cousin's baby)
Other names of interest that have come up recently:
Anika (family friend's baby)
Mikaela (friend's baby)
Cross (family friend's baby)
Latimer (friend's family name, middle name)
Clara (same friends family name, first)
Dorothy (friends family name)
Urban (friends family name)
Clarence (friends family name)
Griffin (girlfriends name)
thoughts?

Date: 2007-07-03 05:03 am (UTC)I was always ok with Mecca, but now that I know the significance behind the name (even though it isn't why my aunt and uncle picked it), I like it a lot more.
