I like Leslie, but wow is that an ugly spelling. Especially on someone middle-aged. This is why it bothers me when people misspell their kid's names. It might look cute on a 4-year-old to have random y's in the middle of the name (although you'll never convince me of that) but it just looks ridiculous on someone when they're 40.

I like Leslie, but wow that's ugly.

When my friend's family came to Canada from China, they asked her to "choose" a name for herself instead of her Chinese name, which they felt the other kids/teachers would mispronounce/spell incorrectly/so forth. She was really young at the time, like 3 or 4, and she chose Kitty. She's 22 now - not so cute anymore, eh?
