Australian Top Names 2006

Jack
Joshua
William
Lachlan
Thomas
James
Daniel
Noah
Ryan
Ethan

Chloe
Charlotte
Ella
Emily
Olivia
Jessica
Isabella
Mia
Sophie
Sienna

Personally, no real suprises in boy names (apart from Ryan... thought it would be lower, even though it is one of my favourites. Girls - Mia and Sienna are a little odd... apparantly there were 332 Sienna's born in 2006!)

Opinions? Like/dislike?

I don't know where Sienna has sprung up from, but maybe Mia is made more popular by Bec and Lleyton

I have met TONS of little girls with these names, I'm not at all surprised by them. Jessica is probably the only one I haven't met young children with, lately (although I know plenty of people my age with the name)

I love almost all of the boy's names. In fact, other than James, Lachlan, and Thomas, I'd consider naming my sons any of those. My favorites are Ethan, Noah, and Daniel (Danny, though - not Dan).

As for girl's, not many of them are really my style. I'm surprised Jessica is so popular: it seems to be dwindling in popularity here in the states. However, I love Emily, I like Olivia, and Mia is the nickname I have picked out for my #3 name for girls (Amelia). I hate Sienna, though, and Chloe has always, and probably will always, sound like a pet's name to me, lol. I also prefer Isabel to Isabella, but it's not bad.

I love the names Olivia, Charlotte and Mia. I'm not big on any of the other names, except for James, which is a family name.

Shannon Noll and his wife named their baby girl Sienna last year.
