i quite like it. i've always seen it spelled like 'maxime' tho, it's really popular in france and i've known a few. :) to be fair, it was a name before the magazine, haha.

I think it's traditionally a Scandinavian (or Dutch?) name. I went to school with a Maxim, and his mother was from whatever country the name is from, which I can't remember now.

It was super popular when I was at elementary school. Every little boy was named either Maxim or Maxime. There were a few little girls named Maxine too. :)
