I just finished rereading Wuthering Heights for the first time in years and I was hoping someone could help me out with the name Hareton.

- Does anyone know what Hareton means? I can't find it anywhere!
- How do you pronounce it? Is it Hare·ton or Hare·e·ton?
- And what do you think some good middle names are for it?

I think it's a name that is made up by Bronte for her book. I have never found or heard of it anywhere else.

Hareton James sounds really good to me. Both are Scottish sounding.
