For a while I was thinking about naming my son Aiden but I've honestly become so sick of the name every time I hear it!
Tell me what you think about this name:

Asa

I know it to be a boy's name, but I think most people would assume it is a girl's name.

I think it's fine. But it's a little old-fashioned so you may get people thinking it's a girls' name. Also, it might be a little easy for kids to make fun of.

In Japanese, it's pronounced ah-sah and means morning. I think it'd be cute on a girl, but too feminine for a boy.

I like it. I indirectly know a guy named Asa. ((My best friend's roommate)). I don't think it's too feminine at all, especially if it is pronounced correctly. ((the way you're pronouncing it, in other words))

I forgot, I was going to ask if you had a middle name picked out?

Yeah, Isaiah sounds a little odd with Asa. Doesn't flow right. Probably have to pick something that doesn't start with a vowel and has a sharper/stronger sound.

I don't like it. It looks too much like Ass and it also looks like a girl's name. Sorry.

Reminds me of Asa Buchanan on "One Life to Live." I don't know how anyone could think it's a girls name.

My boyfriend's friend just had a son named Asa. I don't care for it, but it's not a bad name.

I have a character in a story I'm writing named Aica (prnounced the same way). I don't think it's a real name, my friend came up with it, but it's an alternative, I suppose.

Wow, I just had Aiden on a list I made, but only because I was looking at names online right then and saw it. I really like it alot, I didn't know it was popular, except for that dumb new band that is out. I liked what the web site said it meant, i think it was "wise, prudent" but I could be mistaken as I just typed meanings for all but one of the names I listed. Either way it is on the post I made today.

As for Asa I think it is a good name. It is strong and easy to say if you know how to pronounce it. Not saying it is hard, more that people are dumb. Including me! =)

I have no idea how anyone can think that Asa is a female name. It's a classic male name. I personally love it.

I think that since Ava is so popular and Ada is a not-unknown girls' name, Asa would appear to be a variation on those names, if someone had never heard it used before. Obviously once you know it's a male name it seems masculine, but I don't think it's ridiculous to see how similar it is to feminine names and put it in that group.

I guess I can't understand how no one would have heard it before, as it is a "classic" name, but I see where you are coming from.

Asa is badass, as long as you can get people to pronounce it right.
