WDYT of Imogen nn Mimi?

My thoughts: I love Imogen for various reasons. And I took the Im in Imogen, flipped it, and got Mimi which is in honor of a dear friend of mine. It's meaning is "maiden" in Irish/Gaelic and maybe Latin for "innocent". It's pronounced in this form as IM-AH-GIN.

Any thoughts on good middle names?

Imogen results from a mistake in Shakespeare and was originally Innogen. It's Latin, not Gaelic.

In the Swan, Jonathan Bate discussed the new edition of the complete works he has edited with Eric Rasmussen and had a sad message for any parent in the audience with a child named Imogen. "We are convinced that you have named your daughter after a misprint," he said.

Bate conceded it was a lovely name but Shakespeare called his heroine in Cymbeline Innogen. A printer had caused the confusion by mistaking the two Ns in the text before him for an M. Innogen, with its obvious suggestion of innocence, fits with the names of other characters (Miranda, Perdita) in the late plays.

Hehe... I'm not usually one for invented names, but I do find it kind of cool that a typo can result in a brand new name

i like both imogen and imogene, but i pronounce them like im-o-gen and im-o-geen. and i hope you don't spell them with an e or anything, because they're just fine how they are. i'm not crazy about the nickname mimi, but it's nice if you're honoring a dear friend. i'd make it more of an at home nickname than an all the time nickname, though.

I like Imogen for the most part. I don't like the other versions/spellings. Mimi is a decent nn for it imo.

Sweet name, I like it :)

Imogen - im-ah-jin
Emogen - emo-jen
Imogene - im-ah-jean
Emogene - em-oh-jeen or emo-jeen
Imogean - im-ah-jeen
Imogine - no idea at all really, but was inclined toward phonetic (im-ah-jine)

I only like Imogen & Imogene.

I really like Imogen, but I would pity any child in this day and age called Emogene. Unless it's just me that instantly thought Emo gene, as in "You write terrible songs because you've got the emo gene."

I find all the spellings a bit challenging to pronounce. I think a lot of people would look at the names and pronounce it "Imagine" or "Emma-Jean".
