What do you think of "place names?"
What are some place names you can think of?
I don't think I would use half of these but this is the list I came up with:

Austin
Destin(my home town)
Montana
Virginia
Georgia
Paris
London
Sistine(my mom loves this one)
Sicily
India
Austria
Vienna
Caspian
Dublin
Rome
Boston
Hampton

I think place names are often very pretty, and have very striking connotations, but there are few I would actually use on a child. Georgia and Carolina are the only ones that comes to mind at the moment.

One of my name books lists Indiana. I lived there for years and loved it there, and it would make a nice name, but it's definitely not for me. Or...children I name, as the case may be.

I live on an island called Arran. There's a family that lives in one of the villages here, Corrie. The two kids, a boy and a girl, are called Arran and Corrie. Nice names but...Corrie and Arran from Corrie, Arran *shakes head*

I've also know of a little girl called Paisley, which I hate but probably because I hate the place!

i used to babysit

There's a tiny town in Wisconsin called Iola (Eye-oh-lah). I always thought that'd be an interesting name... but probably more for a pet than a child.
