Still working that data entry job, I came across a list of contacts that stated the name and phone number of each individual. The very last entry was "Fax Machine XXX-XXX-XXXX." Although this is obviously the fax number for the office, I thought it might be funny if Fax Machine was an actual person's name.

My questions are thus:

1) Have you ever encountered a person with a joke name (e.g. Fax Machine, Phillip Philpot, Paige Turner)
2) What did/would you do if you did?

ok, i went to school with a kid named Brandon James Horny - B.J. Horny was his name.

my dad had a friend who was a school teacher and she said the oddest names she ever came across were these:

Arrow & Fletche *Fleht-chey* - IDENTICAL twin boys; arrow is unusual in itself, but his twins name is Spanish for... ARROW!

and she had a little black boy - Sir Dude. i don't know the last name. but those were his first and middle name.

My cousin is a William John, but his parents gave him the nickname B.J. Personally, I would have gone with Will as a nn.

One time my friend was talking about a kid named B.J. and her mother, wanting to know who he was, asked "What's a B.J.?" A little awkward I'd imagine.

My friend Skye's last name is Officer (when you translate it into English). Skye Officer. I love it, I wouldn't mind having that name! It suits her well, methinks.

I've got two...

I had a teacher in college who was Paaige Turner. Not kidding.

I also went to a school with a girl named Anita Lott. We all giggled when she walked across the stage at graduation. It's like her parents didn't read her name without the middle name when they were naming her.

Aw man, this reminded me of a poor girl I graduated with, her last name was Lovelock, but given that there were about 1400 names to read out and the announcer had been at it for a while, she ended up being Firstname Lovecock.

1. My dad went all through school with a "Mary Christmas."

2. My best friend's teacher in HS was "Richard Head, Jr." Yes, from birth he was nicknamed Dick. No joke.

3. A Kid in my HS was "Randy Dix."

My brother went to school with a Richard Head, and I was at school with Jenny Taylor. She wasn't well liked, so I must admit that lots of people just called her "Genitalia".
My mother knew someone called Claude Malegoff (as in clawed my leg off) and I've come across a few gems working as a customer service/market research monkey. A colleague of mine once had to call Mr. Farquhar-Longcock - it took her about 5 attempts because she kept laughing. Another one had to deal with Mrs Cock-Salty, don't know how she managed to get through a call. My personal fave though was doing wage payments for a company with Michael Jackson and James Brown on the payroll.

My uncle wanted to name his daughter Rose Bush (but my aunt nixed that idea).

I have seen Krystal Glass. And Arthur King, which is much funnier written last name first.

I don't think this really counts, but one of my coworkers is named Kevin Gardener. We had a customer from a business called Pocket Gardener, so that was the customer name listed across the top of the slip. When Kevin walked by, I held it up and asked, "Are you related?" He stared blankly before finally answering, "I guess it's possible," and walking off. Way to read, there, Kevin.

And! I forgot. One of my friends had an aunt named Basha Dick. Her middle name was Asley. Sure, it's not really an adjective (as far as I know), but I wouldn't want to mess with an asley dick, even to bash it.

I went to school with a girl named Jade Green. And one of my bankers is named Alice Blue.

I had a teacher in college who's name was Michael Howard, and INSISTED in being called Michael and not Mike.

When I asked him why he doesn't like to be called Mike, he said that he doesn't like the fact that it sounds like Mike coward when said together quickly. Guess he didn't want people to pick up on that..
