My ex

When my ex and I got pregnant, we named the baby "Seth Michael". Very simple, classic name.

His brother and I are still friends and he just posted pictures of Mike's newborn baby on myspace.

"Nevaeh C.Marie Lutrull"

WHY!?!?!? Ugh. So 'trendy'.

His sister died of cancer very young and thats what the C stands for "Chelsea". I am suprised the baby wasnt named that.

...I thought people naming their children Heaven backwards was a myth. D: Whoa.

Unfortunately not. My mom used to own a daycare center and about 3 or 4 years ago, there was a baby named Nevaeh.

It's not a myth- just look at the USA name charts, apparently it's quite high up!

[identity profile] emilyintheglass.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Just a C? That's odd. Why not put Chelsea in there?

[identity profile] ouronlylight.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, C.Marie is one word? With the period in the middle and the capital M and no spaces and all? Seriously? I mean, honoring the deceased is wonderful, but...

Oh god for a minute I thought you meant the C stood for cancer.

Chelsea Marie would have been a perfectly good name. Whyyy did they have to screw that up?!

[identity profile] xtangledechox.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
lmao i thought that too until i read further on.

I've never understood the Heaven backwards trend.
If they didn't want to name her Chelsea could they not have just dropped the C. and made her middle name Marie? or given her the initials C. M. Whatever, each to their own...

I love Seth Michael. I wanted my son to be Seth Christopher but it got veto'd by the SO.

The initials CM just make me think of Cervical Mucus.

The Chelsea thing is definitely weird. Even as a mother who has lost a child that is weird for me. I think it'd be nicer if they'd just used Marie or Chelsea. It's not like Chelsea would be the first name. An initial still bring up the same memories..

The Nevaeh thing is also kind creepy.. like Chelsea in heaven or something. Maybe meaningful for the family, a burden for the child.

The Nevaeh trend annoys the crap out of me too. I also dislike people naming their kids' Heaven, because I happen to know a little Heaven, and she is HELL. Ah, irony.

[identity profile] sykotropic.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get the Nevaeh trend either. If you like the sound of the name try Niamh, which is a "real" name.

[identity profile] politicking.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
my friend wants to name his daughter Nevaeh! he's like, "isn't it cool?!" & i'm like, "well... if YOU love it, then yes. but honestly, i don't like it that much." i didn't want to be mean, but eek.

[identity profile] virginiadare.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Nevaeh sounds hoi-polloi to me. For the unwashed masses.

[identity profile] morphinae.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, can they get any trashier? I do admire the honoring of his sister thing, that's quite nice. If only he'd had that good of taste with the other names! The whole Nevaeh thing makes me want to literally throw up from the trashy-ness and get a law passed against it :P

Ha, I had a class where we had to do an observation on a child and her name was Nevaeh, I never heard of the name until that point but now its everywhere. I liked it at first cause I had no idea it was heaven backwards, but after a while I think its become to tedious

[identity profile] ugottafriend.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That is messed up. And I agree with you on the Neveah thing. UGH.
