My brother was almost an Elise. I always have liked that name. I'm not really a big fan of Lizzie or Liz or Beth, though. I prefer Elizabeth or Lissy or Ellie. Lizeth is okay too. Knew someone who went by "Z", which I thought was pretty neat.

And I like Isabella, though I wouldn't necessarily say it's connected to Elizabeth...

Yeah, I was surprised Beth wasn't in the top 1000, but I guess most people called Beth are either an Elizabeth or a Bethany (Which is named after a city and not related to Elizabeth as far as I know)

My cousin is Elizabeth and I have always called her "Belle". I read in a baby name book that its a variant, plus it means Beautiful... its the only nickname from the name Elizabeth that my family will ever use. ♥

I was kinda surprised that Belle didn't make the top 1000 either...I would have put it with Bella and Ellie because it can come from the French word for beautiful or it can be a nickname for Isabelle/Elizabeth

Ellie is probably not really related to Elizabeth, because it's also a nickname for Eleanor, Ellen, and other names like that.
That said, I don't think it's a good name on its own. I like it as a nick name to a more grown-up sounding full name.

If my son had been a girl he would have been Eleanor and called Ellie...but I know that it can be a nickname for Elizabeth as well...depends on the parent...which is why I didn't put it in the list proper, but did include it at the bottom.
