So, I've never paid much attention to the name 'Ephraim.' It isn't on my top ten list or anything, but I find I think it is rather nice. Then, today in Engl. Lit. I met a guy with this name, only he spells it 'Efrem.' I've never seen that before. WDYT? ((about the spelling and/or the name in general...))

Ephraim I could handle. It's a very Biblical name which is what I prefer. However, it's not my favorite. It's not a name I would use, but it doesnt make me cringe. Efrem looks stupid. Efraim is apparently an accepted variant, but Efrem looks like his mom was quite ignorant.

It's my best friend's son's name, so I'm pretty used to it and like it. They get a lot of weird reactions to it, most people find it pretty weird. But that's how uncommon names are.

I don't like Efrem. Seems like a dumbed-down illiterate attempt at spelling.

I think I've heard it around maybe once in Italy, it's a hebrew name I think. I kind of like it. Better spelled Efrem.

Very unusual spelling.

I've never met an Ephraim but I am aware of the name... actually I have begun researching my family history and there is a Benjamin Ephraim a few generations back.

I quite like it as Ephraim, but not Efrem. By the by, how is it pronounced? Seeing it with the original spelling I would've said Ef-raym, but I'm thinking that's wrong.

I think it can be pronounced Eff-rum or Eee-free-um

to the OP
I don't think I've ever met an Ephraim or an Efrem, but according to the SSA there were 337 Efrain's and 187 Efren's born last year (They are the Spanish version of Ephraim) but neither Ephraim nor Efrem made the top 1000
