recently my baby (who is 2 months old already doubled his birthweight and eats about 45 ounces of formula a day) has been sleeping all day and only getting up to eat. i can hardly keep him up for more than 2 hours throughout the day. i think he's just going through a growths spurt cuz he sleeps all day and still sleeps all night. sometimes he sleeps so soundly that i go in there just to make sure he's still breathing. he's already on cereal so that helps a little but sometimes he just refuses to eat his cereal. i dont know what to do. he's either sleeping eating or screaming.

First of all, why would you post this in a baby names community?

Second of all, you SHOULD NOT be feeding a 2 month old cereal. Their stomachs CAN NOT handle it, perhaps the reason for the sleeping, you are making him SICK. The AAP recommends delaying solids until AT LEAST 4 months, and are leaning towards 6 months.

Stop and think about what you're doing, and maybe that's why your son is asleep all the time!

This is disgusting. No wonder the poor little thing is sleeping and screaming all the time! I can only imagine the damage to it's poor little stomach.

her journal seems a little contrived, but i don't know, shittier parents have happened (but not many.) i am so grossed out.

I'm ashamed mostly because I am the same age as her, and I have tried and tried to do my best and hardest raising my 3 year old, despite numerous comments from strangers about young parents. It's people like this that make us all look bad.

pff, i'm YOUNGER than her and i know this! my daughter only drinks about 30oz of formula and just started on solids three weeks ago (at 6 months.) and she's 90th percentile in weight and height. stuff like this makes me sick.

HAHA! tables turn!

i can just imagine how your sons lungs feel from the cigarette smoke...or the damage it is going to cause to your unborn child. You are 26 weeks pregnant and you have only been smoke free for 2 weeks...thats pathetic! Dont go judging people for things they do when you yourself are endangering your own childrens health! And for your comment to me in babies_2005...Your a bitch!

I'm starting to wonder why you are always sticking up for her.

At least I finally got the courage to quit smoking. She's still shoving cereal down an 8 week old baby's throat, letting it sleep with PILLOWS, and doing drugs. Yeah. Great.

what you have smoked could have already hurt your unborn child and even your 3 yr old for that fact.
I'm just saying that you are in no place whatsoever to judge her.

anyway, i'm really hoping this is a troll post. a baby should NOT have doubled their birth weight by 2 months, should NOT be eating so much formula, and should NOT be eating cereal. off to PUKE now, thanks.

My son doubled his birthweight by 2 months -- exclusively bfed though, no cereal in bottles or anything.

guys maybe she's serious and seriously misguided. don't scare her away with insults.

honey you should not be feeding your baby cereal. that's the only advice that i can give -- you should go and see a doctor and get some advice, they're the only ones that can really help you in a professional way. good luck ♥

By the looks of her journal, she's not misguided. She doesn't care.

i didn't insult her, i just didn't sugarcoat the fact that she's basically poisoning her son with food his stomach can't handle.

maaandy i did look back into her journal and the baby_2005 community and you are right.

riotsaidmama & maaandy you both didn't insult her, i meant to say something more along the lines of offend her or make her feel stupid.

i just hope she sees a pediatrician in the extremely nearly future or her baby could be at risk.

Hi, your baby doesn't need rice cereal. In fact, most babies don't even need solids until they are at least 6 months old, if not even older. Try cutting out the rice cereal and see if that helps, it could be hard for his tummy to digest.

It sounds like your baby needs a visit to his doctor. Your baby should be alert and wiggly more frequently than that. Also his weight gain is a concern - although it's great that he's so eager to eat, it sounds like there may be something off in there if he's eating and gaining so much weight. And, as many have said, you absolutely should STOP feeding your child solids. Believe it or not, breastmilk (and formula, more or less) provides ample nutrition for a child. Please go to a doctor!

If she was looking for advice, I would have thought she'd come back sooner to check what people said and realize her mistake.

I don't know...I just really hope this girl isn't serious and if she is that she gets some help from a physician.

45oz of formula per day = no. You should only give him 32 at most. Rice cereal = no (until 6 months). It's a filler and has no real nutritional value, especially for a 2 year old.

You're making him sick, not helping him. But you don't care.

I wouldn't reply either if people who didn't know me made me feel inadequate because I didn't know something was bad for my baby. If this girl didn't care, she wouldn't check in on her son because she was worried about him sleeping so soundly. Everyone is entitled to mistakes. Its one thing to point someone in the right direction, its another to run them into the ground for being human. I'd never say someone didn't care when I've never spent five minutes with them.
