I am really liking the name Amelia lately. I know it's a little popular (82 in America according to the ssa site) but I still like it.
My fiance and I have a number one agreed upon name Eleanor Iris (well, we agree on Eleanor and I've yet to find a middle name that goes better than Iris which I quite like and my fiance is "meh" about).

Then my fiance's favourite girl's name combo is Mia (13!)Simone. So we agreed that if we have two daughters the first will be Eleanor Iris (unless we find another middle name) and the next Mia Simone.

BUT I like the idea of using Amelia Simone with Mia as a nick name. What do you think?

I don't know if I can convince my fiance to change his mind from Mia and Amelia though since I already got him to change his mind from Mirah (ew) to Mia. Maybe if I suggest that we use Amelia Simone first. Obviously, this is all academic since we are not even pregnant yet, lol. I just wanted your thoughts. Which do you like better Mia Simone or Amelia Simone?

Also here are other names I like if we end up having a horde of daughters one day:
Sophie
Cordelia

I like Amelia Simone better than Mia Simone and Mia is my favorite nickname for Amelia. I LOVE the name, so I'd totally go with that and it's a nice compromise because Amelia's not as popular as Mia and there's more nickname possibilities for Amelia in case she's not a "Mia".


I love your taste in girls' names, really. Eleanor and Amelia are two of my favorites and I've always liked Sophie and Cordelia, too.

If you don't necessarily like Iris for a middle name for Eleanor (I'm not crazy about the combo, but it works) what about Eleanor Sophia? Or Eleanor Cordelia?

I actually do like Iris it's my fiance who doesn't like it Eleanor Cordelia is nice, especially since another commenter pointed out that I can't have an Amelia and a Cordelia for first names!

Yeah I didn't know Mia was SO popular until I looked at the ssa site. I've never actually met someone named Mia so I don't think it's that popular around here.

I absolutely adore Amelia. If it wasn't number 16 in England it would be my top choice. Though it is dropping, it was 14 last year.

I like Mia (pronounced me-uh not my-uh) but I prefer Amelia way way way better, so Amelia Simone.

Wow, I didn't know it was so popular in England. I live in Canada and here Emma and Emily are very popular but I haven't met an Amelia yet.
Oh and I do pronounce Mia as Mee-uh.

Amelia Simone sounds like a mouthful to me, too many syllables. I hate the name Simone so that didn't help either. Love Sophie, hate Cordelia and Eleanor.

I agree that Sophie is pretty popular right now, that's it's only drawback to me. But I tell myself that by the time I have a third daughter, if that ever happens considering I don't even have one kid now, that maybe it won't be so popular anymore.

I like Sophie, Amelia, and Eleanor. Sophie/Sophia are really popular though.

One of my names is Mira, it is latin and means wonderful, said "my-ruh" not "me-rah". It's also in a lot of other different languages- Amira means princess, I think.

I think that Mirah is the name of a character in Daniel Deronda. Myra usually comes from Myron, Greek for fragnant, and mira from latin, wonderful.

When I read it I assumed that Mirah's name was an English version of the Hebrew name Meira.
