I'm not having children anytime soon, but I like names (obviously), so I've got a few "picked out." My friends and I were just discussing this the other day, and some of them didn't like my combos (they thought they were a little boring). But I don't like trendy names, I'm more for classical name. Anyway, here's what I've got:

Girls
Katherine Grace (nn Kate)
Cecelia Margaret (nn Celia)
Virginia Anne
Meredith Kathleen

I also like the names Caroline, Johanna and Raelyn, but I don't know that I'd use them.

Boys
Joshua Carrington (nn Josh) -- I love both names, but I'm not sure if they really go together.
William Henry (nn Will)
Ashton Matthew
Patrick James (nn Pat)
Julian Alexander

I like the idea of using the name Christian with the nn Ian rather than Chris, but I don't know that I'd actually do that.

I think your names are nice and old fashioned, which is nice. But if they sound a little dull it might be because the midle names Grace, Anne, Matthew and Henry are used all the time, kind of just filler instead of being something meaningful. (sorry if they have a family connection in your case, not trying to be rude here). Unless you have a good reason to use Grace or Anne, why not try something more interesting in the mn spot?

PS I have noticed wuite a few other people following the idea of making nicknames out of the last few letters of a name Alexander - Xander, Christopher - Topher, William - Liam, etc.

I'm not wild about Virginia Anne or Julian Alexander, but I'd rather see those than Khyrstianna Nevaeh Raine or River Ethan Hunter. ;)

I really like Katherine (although I prefer it with a C) Grace and Joshua Carrington. I think they have really nice rings to them.

I have an aunt Catherine, and I do like it, I just prefer Katherine. However, I like "matching" names for twins (my sister and I are Ashley & Alexis, our unlcles are Richard & Robert, and our cousins are Ryan & Rachael), so if I had twin girls, I'd probably call them Catherine Grace & Cecelia Margaret. :-)

I like Matthew a lot, I just can't see me using it as a first name. I love the name Ashley for a boy, but since I'm Ashley and a female, it just seems unfair of me to think of naming a son that. However, I do like the variation "Ashton," and if ever I was going to use it, it'd be as a fn not a mn.

Okay, here are just some of my suggestions, you don't have to actually take me up on them, just think about them, you know.

Here they are:

Katharine Grace -- I always think of Katharine Hepburn w/ a mix of Grace Kelly

What about Margaret Grace? - Still just as beautiful

Raelyn Anne -- very, very, pretty and unique in that i have never heard anyone by that pretty name before

Joshua Alexander -- a mix of the two names you had displayed
Joshua Carrington -- totally original. love it, love it, love it
Patrick James or Patrick Henry -- i adore the name patrick!

I love the name Margaret, and I think Margaret Grace is a beautiful combination. However, my mother is Margaret, my grandmother is Margaret, and my little sister is Margarert, so I'm certain I won't be using Margaret as a fn for any children I have.

I like Raelyn Anne. I don't think I would've thought to pair the two, but it's very nice. I love the name Raelyn, but I hesitate to say I'll use it because I wonder if it's just too trendy (though I've never met anyone with that name).

I love the name Joshua. When I was in middle school, I named my egg baby Joshua, lol, and that was years ago. I love Carrington for a middle name (previously I'd been pairing it with Bradley, but I don't know that I'd actually use Bradley), so pairing it with Joshua is new for me. But I like how it sounds.

I adore the name Patrick as well. The only combo's I'd really considered with that one are Patrick James and Patrick Owen. I love Henry, but I don't think I could name a child Patrick Henry and not think of the historical figure every time I read/said/heard the name, lol.

Yeah, maybe Patrick Henry wasn't such a great idea. I guess historical ties don't really work, i didn't really notice that. Joshua Carrington. There's something indescribable about that name. I just really like it.
