I like Laurinda, and Laure.
Also- Laura, Lauren, Laureen.

Maybe if you really wanted the "Laur" thing you could do like, Laurelai?

Laura, Laurel, Gloria, Lawrence (my nickname throughout high school for some reason:)Lawrencia, Lauren, Alora, Elora, Glory, Lourdes (although Lola is more common), Lorelei, Loretta, Lara, Lorissa,Laureen, Lorena, Lauriana, Loriann, Loraine, Lorraina, , Laurinda, Loranda, Lorelle, Lorenza, Lorna, Gloris, Loris, Gloretha, and various spellings of the above.

I'm just a Lori, though:)

I prefer Lori as a stand alone. It's actully my aunt's name (and one of my mom's cousin who actully went by her middle name because she was in the same class as my aunt) and goes with the stand alone nature of the names of her sisters, Chris (Tina as middle name) and Wendy. The boys are a different story.

Lauren/Loren/Lorin/Loryn/etc
Lorelei
Loretta
Laura

I've also heard both as stand alone names before and they work well

I think of Laurie as a boys name and Lori for girls... if that makes a difference
Laurie for Laurence... Lori as a stand alone name but it could be short for something like others suggested

They pretty much stand on their own..
...but you could take a page from Doctor Zhivago and call her Larisa and go with Laurie instead of Lara.

my friend's wife's name is just Laurie, I guess it could stand alone...

Laura Anne! ;) That's my name and I go by Laurie...
For other suggestions I don't really have any new ones to add, but I second using the name Larissa.
