My name is Tara, middle name lynn. Tara Lynn. I like the combo. but anyway I promise I won't get offended cuz while I like my name and think it fits me, I don't think it would have been my top choice either for a girl (but still, maybe on the list cuz i love the name tess or tessa). But just wondering, I've seen so many lists on here and not once have I seen the name Tara on any of them, nor in my life have a known to many of them either.

Any ideas or reasons why it doesnt seem to be liked that much or anything like that? Really just me being curious because I havent seen it even once on this site and was wondering your opinion of the name.

I like the name Tara! I have a sweetheart of a cousin with that name. Honestly I have never put that name on a fav baby name's list, but I have nothing against the name. You should be proud of it!

I think Tara's really cute. For me, it's not on my list because it's kind of one of those names that has a bad personal association with someone I know who I'd hope my child would be nothing like. lol.

You look to be almost my age (20) and we both have names that were pretty popular around then (I'm a Whitney) but are less common for new babies these days!

Well thanks :) Yeah I'm 19 and I get what you mean about the popularity thing. Ah well :)
In 3rd grade I moved to a knew school and there was another Tara and she didn't want to be my friend at first because she thought I would be mean XD lol we stayed good friends for awhile but then we seperated. :/

Hunny, I grew up at the corner of Tara Rd and Tara Blvd in Jonesboro, GA. Right in the heart of "Gone With the Wind" I grew up with twins named Dixie and Tara with a little brother named Brett (because naming him Rhett would have been to cheesey *HA*) My own name is Ashley.

I can't say that I am fond of the name but I have reasons that have nothing to do with the name its self.

understandable, it seems people tend to have reasons that taint the name b/c of someone else usually or something like that. Though I gotta admit the other tara i knew became addicted to a bunch of drugs so I can't say I don't know anyone who would contribute to it not being a liked name. But I myself am def not like that. lol I hope I'm one of the Taras who give it good meaning :)

My aunt loved to call me Ta when I was little. I loved that :) actually she still calls me that sometimes

but yeah, half my friend have made nicknames, T-lynn, and randomly, potato are what they call me haha. but even so, why do you NEED a nickname. I didnt pick my favorite names b/c of nicknames. but everyones different. Some people are like, the nickname is EVERYTHING. *shrugs* ah well

My cousin's name is lisa :)
I'm not fond of Ingrid but its not because theres not obvious nickname. People say the same thing to me when I say I love the name Tess. I thought maybe naming her Tessa for maybe sounding better witha middle name. and even the bf was like, "If youre going to end up calling her tess anyway why make it Tessa?" Tess is even worse than tara for a nickname haha. you cant even go Te. like Ta for tara XD haha

I was gonna say that my mom kinda doesnt fit the mold cuz she named me Tara when her name is Carmella but then i realized, i have a michelle, Gary then Matthew.. and my Dad's name is Gary too.. so we have 2 with short names like my dad and 2 with long like my mom. so maybe it DOES fit.

i'm not very fond of most T names, mostly because my given name is a T name and it doesn't fit me at all, but i don't think there is anything wrong with the name tara at all. i also like the name terra, because it's earthy, and they sound almost the same. i just probably wouldn't use a T name, because of my own somewhat silly reasoning of disliking my own name. though the name i picked for a future son, his nickname will start with a T, but his actual name won't. you're lucky to have a name that you think fits you well. i wish my mom hadn't listening to my dad and had given me a hippie name like she wanted, because i DID end up being hippie-esque.

Terra is one that i like too :) haha i first heard it on Teen Titans XD but yeah I like it too. My mom was the one that picked tara so thats just what i ended up with b/c she liked it.

My sister was going to be named cheryl but they changed it to michelle b/c my grandpa had trouble saying cheryl for some reason haha. its okay though michelle fits her better

Youre right about lynn, i dont know to many people with the mn lynn. i know a nancy lynn and then theres jamie lynn which i think sounds good with those names but i think its very few names that do sound good with it

I do love it, it's really fresh sounding. But I guess I probably pronounce it differently from you anyway since I'm in Australia... we pronounce it with the long aaar sound like the tar part would rhyme with car, if that makes sense.

Also I wouldn't use this name on my own daughter because her last name will also start with T and it's only one syllable, I find that a bit too repetitive. So I'm kind of avoiding T names in general. Shame, otherwise I would have considered Tara (and also Timothy)

Actually scratch that. The middle name is Nikole because the father didn't like Lynn. Wow, I can't believe I forgot that.
