Just out of curiosity I was wondering what everyone thought of the name Raquel? Yes it's my name and although I might sound arrogant I really love the name. A few people I have met in life told me it was a beautiful name... so it's interesting why then it isn't so popular of a name lol. My parents named me Raquel after the actress Raquel Welch (sp?) since they found her very beautiful.

The only problem I guess I can say about my name is especially a lot of teachers I can still remember struggled with it. They would always call me Rachel and it drove me crazy to the point where I dislike that name now (no offense to any Rachels here!) And my last name is already hard enough to pronounce so correcting people on both my first and last was a pain.

That's my cousin's middle name, and I think it's pretty. I believe its a Spanish version of Rachel, though, so maybe that's why it's not so commonly used in the US (where I assume you are). As for being arrogant, I think you're very lucky to have a name that you love!

Oh Raquel can be such a lovely middle name :) It is a Spanish version of Rachel and I also just read it comes from Portuguese origin as well- so I do understand why it's not as common as say Rachel is here in the US. I was told it was really popular for awhile in the 90s though. I do consider myself lucky getting a name I really like- thanks :)

I love it too. I've only known one, and I wouldn't use the name because it would look like I was naming my kid after her which would be really inappropriate/unusual.

My first impression of Raquel is a character from the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses, who was actually called Rachael but used Raquel as stagename. Once I get passed that, though, I think it's very pretty!

Raquel is a lovely name. My name is Betsy--shouldn't be too complicated you'd think--but I got called Becky all the time! UGH! There is just no way to escape the stupidity of some people.

there is actually a girl named raquel sitting in my room as a i read this, haha. its also my cousins baby's name, shes named for her mother whose name is rachel, but she's raquel because her father is mexican.
i didnt like it when my cousin named her baby that, but its grown on me.
