I was wondering what people thought of the name Titus, for a boy of course.
I'm not very found of most boys names, and not really in any need of one (or any name) in the near future.
If anyone has read the Gormenghast series by Mervyn Peake, that's where I sorta decided I liked the name, but I'm afraid that it could be abbreviated to some unsavory words.

I like it, probably because it's the name of one of my best friends.

I once knew a boy named Titus and he was already getting called tight ass when he was only 5. It is a nice name, but I'd probably avoid it.

I like it. I've read Gormenghast too, though. I might worry a little about it being abbreviated, but I don't think it would be that big of a deal. Titus is a strong name and it doesn't /sound/ like anything 'unsavory,' which is usually the problem, the way it sounds.

I've not read Gormenghast, but it made me think of Titus Andronicus (the Shakespeare play with the largesy body count...) and Titus Salt, who was a Bradford mill owner a couple of hundred years back and basically put the city on the map. Definitely a strong name - if he lived up to it, no kids would dare call him 'tight ass' unless he liked it!

That was actually my husband's first choice for a boy's name with this baby. Except he wanted to spell it Tidus, because of Final Fantasy. Plus, that would cut down on the Tit references. I was still very hesitant, though. Luckily we're having a girl, so we didn't have to argue about it. :*)

I've known two people with the name Titus, and I really like the name.

The video game Final Fantasy X's main character is named Tidus. That's what I thought of first when I read your post.
