One of my favorite nicknames is Ginny, but I hate the name Virginia. Has anyone got any ideas for a full name that could be shortened to Ginny? And not the Harry Potter "Ginevra" either.... :) Thanks!

Why does it need to be shortened. Why not just name them Ginny?

Gina?

Genevieve. Geneva.

What movie is that icon from?

No idea. It's just a random icon. Crows?

I've heard that version of Jane Eyre is really, really excellent but I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet.

Cool. I'm fairly obsessed with those kinds of movies. Pride and Prejudice (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112130/), of course. And my other favorite is North and South (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417349/), which is less well known but SOO good. I highly recommend you see it if you haven't. :D

If I've seen Middlemarch it was a long time ago, because I don't remember that one. I have seen Bleak House though. Very.... bleak. Good though. ;)

I watched Mansfield Park (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0178737/) a couple nights ago and loved it. Though I hear it's not faithful at all to the book. I have never read it though, so I wasn't disappointed. The actress is also in Wives and Daughters (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0215364/), another mini-series I'd recommend.

Seriously, I could go all day on this subject, lol. I love period movies so much. :D

No, I haven't. I LOVED that book though. I kind of wish they'd do a new movie adaptation of that one.

I'd recommend Gina or possibly Ginger over Geneva. While the latter is cute, and I see the Jane Eyre reference, my first thought was to Geneva, Switzerland ... Geneva Peace Accords ... etc. Events/places vs. a person. I'd be concerned some smart alek kid would have way too much fun with "and peace be with you". :-P

One of my Husband's Grandfather's sisters is named Geneva and she goes by Jenny , but I think Ginnie would be cuter.

You can use the name Ginny on it's own if you like. But Guinevere is another name I've heard Ginny used for.

I'd say Genevieve or Gina.

But Ginny by itself works, too.

Was about to suggest this but someone beat me to it.

Or you could always choose its variant Regine. v^_^v
