Sorry for all the posting, but I love when this community is hopping and want to do my part. It it's too obnox, I'll stop.

My question is this: What do you think of the name Persis? It's the name of a (female) character in Anne's House of Dreams by LM Montgomery, and I've always been drawn to it even though I don't think I will ever use it.

Persis is a greek name meaning "Persian woman." This is the name of a woman mentioned in St. Paul's epistle to the Romans in the New Testament. It has never been in the top 1000.

Isn't the full name name Persis Leigh Ford in the book? I love that name....then again I love most of the names from that series.

hmm, this has nothing to do with the name but i find it funny that you mentioned lm montgomery... i like in prince edward island, canada, where she was born and stuff about her and anne is everywhere... it's a huge tourism business. anyway, i had to check your location and see if you lived here too, but you're an american!!! it's cool to see that you read her, though :)

i LOVE this name. It's one of the names on my list of "Biblical girl names" that i like and want to try and combine with another name for my future little girl. :-)
