Lately I have been really enamored of the name Martha. It's one of the "old fashioned" names.
According to behind the name, its Hebrew for "lady" or "mistress of the house." It was most popular in the 1890s. Nicknames include "Mattie" and "Maddy."
WDYT?

Date: 2007-05-06 07:02 pm (UTC)Marta is a name used in many languages: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Czech, Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Danish, Hungarian, German, Hebrew etc (yes some of those are Slavic).
I don't think people would mispronounce it as Martha as there's no 'th' in it.
