Are there names that you've come to loathe after someone you really hate/dislike?

I can't stand Serena, Irene and Lauren because I've met people I couldn't stand that had these names.

(I don't mean to ruin those names for anybody, it's just that I don't like them)

Brittany. (No offense to anyone with that name.) She's a horrible person, and has ruined far more than just that name.

Rebecca/Becky...which is unfortunate, because I really love the biblical spelling Rebekah, but when it's being said, it sounds just like Rebecca, and that has bad vibes for me. :(

Honestly I would avoid naming my child anything along the lines of Tiffany, Crystal...or any of those names which sound like expensive pretty things...unfortunatly these names have been somewhat stereotyped by the media in movies as being the names of rich snooty girls.

Most of the Tiffanys and Crystals I know are super trashy! I never even CONSIDERED that they were supposed to sound "expensive."

First of all, Newton. The two I know of were bad bad bad and a kid I knew with the last name could haunt a house and freek me more than any thing else. I crushed on three Roberts in three different decades but I could never have named a daughter Roberta - it was the name of the girl who bullied me in 7th grade.
These names for me were always attached to dull people with no character, but I think most have been parked in the graveyard: Phyllis, first and foremost: Rita, Marvel, Jean, Jeanine, Gina, Connie, Allen, Gary, Ray, Tracy, Linda, Gloria, Lee, Denise, Amanda, Iris, Naomi, Gail, Trixie, Bea or Beatrice, Ramona, Jane, Karen, Mabel, Cathy, Bert, Oswald, and Wanda. I could never use those names even as a likable character in a story. The name Violet was totally ruined for me from grades 1-7 by my first, a fat Violet with horn-rimmed glasses and a big hook nose and a dark moustache, And in my class each yea, so I knew also that she did not talk and was too suspicious of anyone talking to her to bother trying. She dressed like the 75-year-old women teachers -long, full skirted, dully colored , simply-patterned dresses with elastic waists and peter pan collars. Clothes we girls in mini-skirts and go-go boots were so afraid of having to wear like a uniform one day, our generation collectively made sure older women got into fleece-lined "warm up" suits and then jeans and shorts to kill the stereotype before that's all manufacturers gave US.

The names I hate because the people really burned me bad, that I could never name my child, even though in most cases I also knew a sweet one I liked, are Mark, Debbie and Deborah, Dorothy, Cynthia and Cindy and Cindi and Cyndi, Lynn, Patricia and Patty, Tiffany, Rob, Danielle, George, Nicole, Richard and Dick, Bob, Nancy, Gary, Werner, two incredibly stupid shallow Susan/Suzannes called Suzy and Sue, a Sasha with no self-preservation instincts and a third Sue with too many, stealing from every employer and friend and place she went and if her meat went bad bought the same weight and type, ate it, put the wrapper around the bad stuff and went to the grocery store to insist she just bought the outdated rotten meat that day and was thinking of sueing. Not content to get her money back on false pretenses, she hoped to scare them out of more. I'd like to nominate the word susan to stand for "over the top cheap and shallow".

Though absolutely no one was named this in the 60's and 70's, I have come , by way of having children, to shudder at the name Brittany,in any variant, Britney,Britany; as well as Courtney, Chance, Sarah, Lauren, and Silk. And sorry but Lindsay Lohan ruined her name.

I guess the one at the top would be Patricia. I could never meet another too soon.

Lauren fits that category for me too. Also Natasha, which I'd probably like if I didn't associate it with a complete a-hole.

Yes, I forgot Robin, the world's most immature bit-h, as well as Victor and Page ( any spelling); Page was male but my mind won't handle the name any sex. No Ruths here, either. NOW I've listed all the no-ways!

Heather, Eliza, Benjamin, Kristin.

I will soon be related to two really great Benjamins but one particularly awful Benjamin ruined the name for me long before.

Ellen (although I've met some nice ones, they don't compensate for the bad) Christina, Sharon, Karen, Glenda, Nigel, Keith, Alan, Roland or Clive. That said, I don't know if I would have liked any of these without the unfortunate conatations. I guess I'll never know!

Marie. *spits teeth*
Although Marianne and Marie-Anne are fine by me.
Marie just connotes 'chav bitch' now.

A name that I can't stand for no good reason is Stephanie. I know two nice Stephanies but one must have done wrong by me as a kid.

Stella.
Beer/Dog with Wings.

George.
Wet kid that used to piss his pants in class.

Rose.
Ruined by Doctor Who.

Gilles. (from the French) Also see Guy and Felix.
Great names RUINED by crappy philosophy of art.

Aubrie/Aubrey and sadly, I think... Audrey as well, due to the negative vibes now emanating from Aubrie.

Will. Clancy. Heather.

I'd have trouble naming my child after anyone I know. I mean... everyone has their faults. I want my kid to have a fresh name, with absolutely no baggage attatched, whether it's good or bad.

Megan, Lauren, Brittany, Monica, Amber, Pamela. All the ones I've met = uber bitches. I'm sure there'll be plenty of names I can add to this list once I'm a teacher, lol. That's why I'm glad I like uncommon names for my future kids :p

Most of the Megan's I've met have been bitches. Except for one who is the sweetest little bible girl you've ever met, and myself of course. (I'm too shy and scared of people to be a bitch ^^;;)
